A fave of the coaches no doubt.
They hope he'll come good each game.

Sad indictment of our club really. Sub par performer for a lot of those games and not overly damaging with or without the ball. Not the last one picked but certainly not in the top 10 either
A friend of mine said one of the reasons Newnes keeps his place is because he spends so little time on the bench because of his tank.
He is usually on the field for 90%+ time of the game.
If we were to bring in a young replacement we would use up more interchanges quicker than normal.
The fact that we have a guy who doesn't use up our interchanges is a little important.
That's just why he gets picked, not whether he deserves his spot.
Geez, he has been a good servant and still goes ok. He was blitzing it the first few rounds this year. The guy is durable and can run out games until the very end. Not a lot of footy players can do that - especially the younger blokes. That is a big reason why he gets picked.
Newnes is definitely a player to keep on the list whether he is playing seniors or not. He provides depth and leadership.
Posters that have admitted they were wrong about Hanna's gastro and the club didn't create a cover story.
Total = 1.
He no doubts battles hard and gives every week, but there were times last year when he was obviously carrying an injury and shouldnt have been playing.,
Like Geary, if Newnes was in our bottom 6 we would be a very, very good side. We really need to find or develop another 6+ players to push them down there.

I doubt Newnes could get a spot in the Cats, Crows, Filth, Tigers, etc.
He'd spend the bulk of the season in their VFL affiliate,
and just be depth in case of injury

What about all the players that run to the interchange when they kick a goal? There's a few less interchanges necessary (albeit only about 9 a week).
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
Reminds me of when GT dropped Dal when he was on 99.

It is considered to be "showing off" if the same player scores consecutive goals.
In the a politically correct AFL this was deemed "UNFAIR" to the opposition.
But if a player runs to the bench after scoring a goal, consecutive goals by the same player are eliminated.
This was why interchange was originally introduced to the game.

Apart from wooden spoons, of all the records our club and its players hold - this is the one I’m now most embarrassed by. How pathetic he hasn’t been dropped at any stage before this. He’s as vanilla, beige as the rest of the leaders of our football department. Unremarkable in every way.

Embarrassed? If you're fair dinkum then you are taking it waaaaaay too seriously.

I don't agree on most of your post Ted & I don't agree on this one either

So. Given you had a crack at me ... how are you feeling tonight HighettMan? Proud as punch of young Jack are you? I’m sure you’re not taking it seriously but neither’s young Jack it would appear. In fact, I’d suggest that like you; he’s taking the pi$$. The irony of having a solitary kick in 120 mins of footy surely must not be lost on you. And all I n his ‘record breaking’ game. All of this sh1t is enabled by our fvcking delusional, meth-addled Match Committee and signed off by the Dribbler of a coach.
Apologies for taking things waaaaay too seriously but unlike you, I care and refuse to put up with mediocrity.
If he plays next week, might as well close the doors. It's that bad. He's not on his own though. Ross is getting really close.
So many players out of form on top of two away games in hot conditions. This was inevitable really.
