Can't blame the draw

Post: # 1797038Post Enrico_Misso »

11 games to go.
We couldn't ask for a better draw.

We play ALL six sides below us - Nth, Dogs, Syd, Mel, Gold C, and Caaaaarlton.

Only play FIVE of the eleven sides above us and that includes Freo and Brisbane both at Docklands where they struggle.
We don't play GWS, Coll, WCE, Port, Ess and Haw again.

The only obvious losses are Rich, Geel and Adel above us.
Plus we struggle to beat Sydney up there.

So pencil in 7 wins / 4 losses.
Gives us 12-10 finish and possible 8th spot.

I like your optimism, Enrico. I have no expectations but am prepared to keep rolling with the punches for the second half of the season. Whichever way it pans out, it'll be interesting all the same. I actually don't think it's far off before we have plenty to look forward to. Green pastures should begin to present themselves by 2020.

Hope you're right. Feels to me as if the wheels might have fallen off.

Too many injuries to take advantage of the run home unfortunately. Our list is pretty ordinary and we can’t afford to lose Steven, Carlisle, Roberton etc like we have.

We’ll win five I think and finish about 13th. Richo won’t be resigned and Ratten will be made head coach.

The problem is how we improve the list. It’s seriously s***. We’ve drafted all the wrong players and haven’t managed to land any guns. Hopefully it’ll turn around eventually.

wrong, it's 1000 monkeys typing for 1000 years will eventually type out the complete works of William Shakespeare.

More likely an infinite number of monkeys and typewriters and an infinite amount of time.

But where do we play them?
As you've said:
We play Gold Coast in Far North Queensland - that's a danger game for a start.
We play North in Hobart - we cross over water - we'll get an absolute hiding!
Geelong at Geelong - could be AR's Neeld moment.
Adelaide in Adelaide - 10 goals plus thrashing
Sydney at the SCG - they're improving again and we haven't beaten them for years anywhere.
We will probably lose two of those matches by at LEAST ten goals, and two by 100 points, going by exposed form.
Funnily enough, I reckon we'll beat Richmond at Docklands again this year. :D

So, I actually think we are going to struggle in the final 11 matches.
No Steven, Carlisle, Hannebury, McCartin, Roberton, Geary, Lonie, Webster, Logan Austin and King isn't ready yet.

But all is not lost if selection becomes more scrupulous and we really use this opportunity to turn over the list and allow those who deserve it to play blocks of games.

We will win four more games this year, nine wins all up, that's a pass mark. Especially beating Essendon, Hawthorn, Carlton and (hopefully Richmond) all in one season.

 right back at you.

It could be the tax code; there are different versions of the infinite monkey theorem, but you’d know.

I’m confident that we’ve made the changes in list management, recruiting and drafting.

Just one more change to make ...

Where’s our f****** Gyron!!

We have $&&$ like Bubbles in the magoos who still can’t demand selection after about 4 years on our list!

And Pierce can go off. He’s no good. And no longer for Longer either.

I'm optimistic about our chances of beating the Blues at the MCG, but otherwise I think we will start as underdogs in every game we play for the rest of the season.

That gives us six wins for the year, the same as 2015, so Richo will be on track to repeat his coaching record over his first four years: 2014/2018 4 wins, 2015/2019 6 wins.

Let's glory in 2020 when he re-emulates 2016 with a glorious 12 wins and a gallant 9th place, missing the finals only by percentage, due to interstate and international hidings!

I'm goin out on a limb here but I reckon we can win 2 of these games & we will finish an honorable 15th or 16th
