What a debacle!
Tasmania, Wellington, and now Shanghai. We never do these things well at all, and all that ends up happening is that we lose all momentum and it stuffs up seasons.
I hope we are getting a million a game, or else we are getting schooled.
Townsville in two weeks. Yay!

Id rather make big profit and get thrashed, than break even and get thrashed.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Sun 02 Jun 2019 6:11pm Tasmania, Wellington, and now Shanghai. We never do these things well at all, and all that ends up happening is that we lose all momentum and it stuffs up seasons.

If the suggestion is that we gave up 4 points by playing today's game in China, then I completely disagree.
We've been mediocre all season, the only variable being the opposition.
Port would have beaten us easily no matter where we played them.

When a club whines about having to travel to Seaford to train, they couldn't possibly hope to win overseas.perfectionist wrote: ↑Sun 02 Jun 2019 6:19pm It does seem that if we travel more than 20 km we are in trouble.
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Re: What a debacle!
The big four make more than that in one big game - Geelong make 800k for home game with 25k at the ground that was built with money paid for by all clubs/victoriansBarryGrogan wrote: ↑Sun 02 Jun 2019 6:38pmId rather make big profit and get thrashed, than break even and get thrashed.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Sun 02 Jun 2019 6:11pm Tasmania, Wellington, and now Shanghai. How can we compete - clubs are getting special allowances outside the salary cap and saints have to travel over water to make the same money or suffer the low crowds brought about by the draw and lack of supporters/membership/sponsorship

Re: What a debacle!
But we made it easier for them through being under-prepared and by fielding unfit players today. Wouldn't have been the same if it were over here. Don't mind us chasing the money. just want us to show up and be competitive when we do.BarryGrogan wrote: ↑Sun 02 Jun 2019 6:38pmId rather make big profit and get thrashed, than break even and get thrashed.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Sun 02 Jun 2019 6:11pm Tasmania, Wellington, and now Shanghai. The mistake was Tassie...
If we’d learned to play the ground there and kept the deal IMO we’d be a completely different club.

Re: What a debacle!
Disagree.
Kennett reckons that the AFL have cost Hawthorn $2m by fixturing them a bunch of Sunday arvo games this year.
There's no way we'd get Fridays and Saturdays ahead of Carlton, Essendon, Richmond, Collingwood etc. just because we pull 10k Tasweigans to games in Hobart once a month.
Remember, North are still there. And North are still battlers.

Re: What a debacle!
The mistake is a fault of our poor coaching .
We are lucky to win 10% of our matches when the team gets on a plane .
Our players usually think they are going on a holiday and play accordingly.
Only Lyon had the ability to make the players believe that they could win anywhere.
Maybe our next coach we be able to instill that mindset in the players cos richo sure as hell can't.

But that’s because the Hawks pbly make money at home... we weren’t under the previous deal.BarryGrogan wrote: ↑Sun 02 Jun 2019 7:47pmDisagree.

According to Kennett, they make $2m less when they play on Sundays.skeptic wrote: ↑Sun 02 Jun 2019 8:23pmBut that’s because the Hawks pbly make money at home... we weren’t under the previous deal.BarryGrogan wrote: ↑Sun 02 Jun 2019 7:47pmDisagree.

So bad deal or not, clubs that play on Sundays are extremely disadvantaged financially.
But if the AFL played small clubs like us on Fridays and Saturdays the whole comp would be financially disadvantaged.
So it is what it is.

Well I'm glad we were paid well to lay down like we did. I wonder if they thought of England while it was happening to them. Money on the dresser on the way out. It was a debacle and unforgivable.

If it was our home game why were Port allowed to play their home ground song before the game?

The question first and foremost in my mind is; why were our players and coaches sick and their's weren't?

Don't forget the substantial contribution from the Feds - Girlong are the club of the Squattocracy, remember, and aren't they happy about it.Freebird wrote: ↑Sun 02 Jun 2019 7:04pmThe big four make more than that in one big game - Geelong make 800k for home game with 25k at the ground that was built with money paid for by all clubs/victoriansBarryGrogan wrote: ↑Sun 02 Jun 2019 6:38pmId rather make big profit and get thrashed, than break even and get thrashed.samuraisaint wrote: ↑Sun 02 Jun 2019 6:11pm Tasmania, Wellington, and now Shanghai. Re: What a debacle!
Tassy was a disaster. We could bearly get a win there even when we were at our best
New Zealand was a complete disaster. Not sure why we bothered sending a team at all as they all get smashed
Now China. Awesome start, well at least it wasn't 100 points.
Maybe they are playing the 5 year olds game. If I play really really badly I wont get sent away to the ends of the earth any more.
(at least we are consistent in the 'new' markets).

The current team all have to watch videos of Richos presentations on there flights and are brain dead when they arrive off shore.
