What kind of Carlton do you expect?
..and what do you think we’ve got? Listened to the podcast of SEN this morning. Lyon gave quite a speech about how St Kilda must be prepared for a mighty wind of wounded pride etc., and how we have to be equally mad at the contest. I know I’ve asked about this kind of thing before, but this time we are truly facing a team on the rack, so to speak.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: What kind of Carlton do you expect?
I reckon we will smash them but I have been wrong before (not very often though).
We just need to weather the storm a bit in the first 10-15 minutes. They are mentally frail at the moment and low on confidence. Sometimes teams in their situation still don't rectify their current bad form even after a whole lot of bluster and talk during the week. E.g. the Saints in 2018
We just need to be smart this Sunday plus we are due for a win. We need to go 5-5.

Should be our biggest win of the season.
Rare occasion where I’ve been confident enough to take a punt on the Saints.

Re: What kind of Carlton do you expect?
Carlton aren't playing out of form, they are just not that good. Like some of our "supporters", I reckon there's plenty of Carlton fans hoping they get flogged so Bolton gets the flick.
They can try as hard as they like, as long as we weather the storm early, we should be OK. If we're not switched on early and they get a sniff, we'll be in trouble.
We'll win by 40.

I reckon the umpires will be furious that Daisy got off with a fine.
They will exact their revenge.
For once we will win the free kick count.

Re: What kind of Carlton do you expect?
It doesn't matter what kind of carlton turns up , but what kind of us .
I've been to around 500 st Kilda games in my life .
I seen us lose plenty .
I've also seen us play many under preforming teams back into form .
It would not surprise me one bit if we were to lose this week .
I've always been a big believer that IF we play our best football we can beat anyone but i've been let down so many times over the years by the saints .
I expect us to win by 4 or 5 goals .
I would love us to smash them 10 + goals
but it wouldn't surpise me if we just scrape over the line or they just scrape over the line or even they smash us like they did to the dogs .

Re: What kind of Carlton do you expect?
Yes, they really whacked the Bulldogs at Marvell altho the Bulldogs kicked 7.15 (Remind you of another team?) Petrevski-Seton and particularly McKay did the damage along with Cripps according to the report on AFL website. They also said the Bulldogs lack of height in the back hurt them. But the Blues had not been playing too badly when they finally got that win, which means they are capable. Unless the rot has really set in they might stilll have the ability to light up what rockets they have so we had better be up for it. Come on Saints!

Re: What kind of Carlton do you expect?
I think there’s a fair chance we’ll be the ones on the rack next week. Those injuries are really biting us and there’s a noticeable lack of onfield leadership.
The Blues are real up and comers imo. A lot of young talent, but quite inconsistent.
Unfortunately we may be the ones to play them into form and I think there’s a real possibility they will finish the season above us on the ladder.
I hope I’m wrong, but the signs aren’t good

Re: What kind of Carlton do you expect?
I agree 100%. Carlton are no good. They've got Cripps and nobody. We're not the greatest team in the world but we're better than them.St Chris wrote: ↑Wed 22 May 2019 3:42pm Carlton aren't playing out of form, they are just not that good. Us by 400 and King to kick 10 in the curtain raiser.

Re: What kind of Carlton do you expect?
Reminds me of the Essendon game at the start of the year. Essendon was embarrassed the week before and everyone expected them to come out crazy. We were able to control the ball and 15 minutes in they had the " here we go again look about them "
Carlton will come out hard and need to match them at the coal face. I would hope this group is stinging just as bad after rolling over like a $2 hooker in the last quarter last week.
Score Board pressure Critical - therefore i should be concerned.

Spot on. If we match them, or better, for pressure in the first ten minutes we'll do it easily.older saint wrote: ↑Wed 22 May 2019 7:50pm Reminds me of the Essendon game at the start of the year. Carlton are the worst team atm, so everyone should be confident of beating them.

Re: What kind of Carlton do you expect?
They will hit us like a steam train in the first ten minutes. Full blunt force trauma. If we have been adequately prepared for this by our coaches, have some on field leadership and plan appropriately to withstand this onslaught, they will run out of steam well before quarter time.

Re: What kind of Carlton do you expect?
Steele's biggest assignment this week. Cripps is a true bull, he will try to lift and carry the whole team. We need to reduce his effect. We need to push Carlton wide so no easy shots at goal. Like us, plenty of inside 50's for no result and missed shots take their toll. Our mids and defenders need to force this and take the wind out of their sails. As important as making the most of our opportunities. For once I'd like to see a quarter time scoreline of StK 6.2 Carl 1.4 & halftime being StK 11.5 Carl 3.7...we need to put a foot on their throat. Seems a eternity ago since a St Kilda side has done that to a team.
