Re: Would you trade Pick 4 for...
Yes - but why the hell would they do that deal????
Even including #36 and excluding next years First Rounder that would be an equivalent to #4 coming back in surplus points - and I know that sometimes the sum is worth more than the components - but that is drug money!

Re: Would you trade Pick 4 for...
I would take it if it was offered but there's not a snowman's chance in hell they will give up that many picks. I doubt they would even consider 8,16 & 21 for 4 & 36 .

Re: Would you trade Pick 4 for...
I believe our recruiters will be keen to trade pick 4 and go for quantity not quality. This will also avoid taking another Paddy or JB with pick 4 then having to justify it.
Re: Would you trade Pick 4 for...
I'd say 8 + 21 or 10 + 15, for 4 + 46 is more realistic tbh, and closer matched in terms of points.

Re: Would you trade Pick 4 for...
depends who is taken 1,2 and 3
If luk was taken 1 and the king's 2 and 3, would be a different answer than if it was welsh, rankine and smith at 1,2,3.

Re: Would you trade Pick 4 for...
Come on.
At best they would cough up two of those first rounders for this year for pick 4. At very best.
Chances are both Port and the Crows would want to be hanging on to at least one of those top ten picks as well.

'If' Rankin & Smith both available @ #4 which one ?
If Walsh is taken @ #1 as expected by many & 'If' G.C. prefer the combo of Luka & King @ pick 2 & 3
then it's an interesting choice for the Saintly recruiters between Ranks & Smith @ #4.

Re: Would you trade Pick 4 for...
Walsh gone at 1. Ben king will not be picked up by gc until pick 6 if they want him.
That means they will most likely get Rankine and Max King; or Rankine and Lukosious. I personally doubt they will take 2 tall forwards as they have needs all around the ground.
So there is a chance we may get lukosious for pick 4 which we must do.. he is ROO v2 according to scouts and guess who will mentor him if we get him. ROO.
Imagine his knowledge passed down to a similar style player who can kick straight. Yes please

You know the drill.
We will end up stuck with pick 4 due to poor offers and draft another B grader

Re: Would you trade Pick 4 for...
Just got to hope King goes to GC, leaving us with Luc or Rank.
At least if he bombs we can say we took the one any other club would have.
Question marks on both, but i'd prefer either to King.
And would prefer that to trading away pick 4. If King is there instead I'd take the trade but it would no longer be available.

Saints select Rankine, flip the bird to both clubs, and continue on their merry way...

We will probably pick some potato anyway so we should really just trade it away...

Re: Would you trade Pick 4 for...
Interesting...from Knightmare on Bigfooty re 2017 and 2018 crop:
Based on where they were rated in their draft years this years group is stronger/more highly rated.
*Stack them into one draft and ignoring club needs and you get something like for a rough feel.
1. Walsh
2. Lukosius
3. Rayner
4. Rankine
5. M.King
6. Brayshaw
7. Dow
8. Rozee
9. LDU
10. B.King
*With Smith/Cerra/Blakey in the conversation.

I think you’re right.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Tue 23 Oct 2018 10:47am Walsh gone at 1. Ben king will not be picked up by gc until pick 6 if they want him.

GC take Rankine and Max and then punt on Ben being there at 6 which is a relatively safe bet.
This is a Good result for us because we either get Luksious or a very juicy offer from Port or the Crows.
It then comes down to Crows assessment if Power would be happy to take on Rozee at 5. If they don’t then they try and trade their pick8 for 7 to get Rozee which will cost them a lot less than if they tried trading for pick 4.
For me, Rankine is the guy who makes our forward line immediately more potent. Not unhappy if we land Lukosios though .

No and why would they? It iw way, way overs for Rozee.
And if they were that generous they would do a deal with the Suns to land Lucky or Rankine rather than Rozee.

Either that or some kid who oozes talent, but loses all confidence playing under Richo.

I'd have traded those picks to land Nick Riewoldt.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Wed 24 Oct 2018 12:04am

Well one can say that knowing how good Nick was. But would you have done that when he was just a skinny unknown but very talented kid? I think not.groupie1 wrote: ↑Wed 24 Oct 2018 4:54amI'd have traded those picks to land Nick Riewoldt.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Wed 24 Oct 2018 12:04am

Re: Would you trade Pick 4 for...
Yeah so would I once in a generation player . I have probably told this story once (maybe twice early signs of dementia) before & it is factually true we were at a local race meet & met surprise surprise Kenny Sheldon (he does like a punt) was there & we had just recruited Nick & I said what do you think of our no.1 draft pick & he told me he would be the next Wayne Carey .After a fair few beers & he signed my wife's left tit (as I said we had a few) we went our separate ways & it's pretty much as he said but Nick didn't sleep with the captains wifegroupie1 wrote: ↑Wed 24 Oct 2018 4:54amI'd have traded those picks to land Nick Riewoldt.saintsRrising wrote: ↑Wed 24 Oct 2018 12:04am
