Goodbye Meatball. Hoping that, wherever you end up, you can get fit, stay fit, and play your best footy.

Re: MINCHINGTON NOT OFFERED NEW CONTRACT
Tad unlucky as cut down by injuries and couldn’t really get a decent run at it. Certainly showed some promise but after 7 seasons he’s not got the runs on the board to say he deserves another contract. Brutal business but fair enough decision I think.
Thanks Minch.

Re: MINCHINGTON NOT OFFERED NEW CONTRACT
Mav at least got on the park.
Meatball did well to last this long.
Mav will be some weak trade bait but will surely go also.
It’s a drip-feed cull for some reason

Good luck with whatever he does post the St Kilda football club, surprised he lasted this long. Great decision need to get rid of the list cloggers.

Re: MINCHINGTON NOT OFFERED NEW CONTRACT
Of the players coming out of contract this year only 5 remain after the de- listings.
Weller, Longer, Lonie, Steele and Phillips.
You would think they would want to keep Steele and Phillips and probably Lonie.
Weller and Longer are possible trades.

Geelong would be interested in picking him up after how he has played against them.

You'd think that a lot of behind the scenes stuff goes on before deciding who goes. Id say Menzel has committed and maybe one or two others have as well.

Re: MINCHINGTON NOT OFFERED NEW CONTRACT
Thanks to Minch and the other six so far. Minch is possibly the best chance out of all of them to still make an AFL career elsewhere.
This drip feed almost seems like a rating system from those unlikely to attract interest to those that might.

Player on the list that’s clearly demonstrated more than others...saintspremiers wrote: ↑Thu 06 Sep 2018 4:47pmMav at least got on the park.

Shown that to this point he is better than Lonie, Weller, and pbly on par with a number of players on the list despite injury effecting his last 2 years.
I’m all for a cull but I like to think we’d be getting rid of players that clearly aren’t up to it as opposed to haphazardly getting rid of anyone that’s not clearly in our mediocre top 22.
I thought this kid has clearly demonstrated he can play
Just my opinion

Re: MINCHINGTON NOT OFFERED NEW CONTRACT
Reasonable delisting at 24 YO.
Showed a bit but needed to cement a spot by that age.
May go back to VFL and if successful get a mature age crack somewhere later.
Was a VG midfielder at VFL level but pigeon holed as a small forward at AFL.
You would think Lonie will get a contract extension now as surely Weller is either traded or not offered another contract.

Re: MINCHINGTON NOT OFFERED NEW CONTRACT
This is a very strong response... sorry if I’ve offended you in the past... thought we were bantering.
As far as stats go, your first point is the most pertinent in that Minch has been injured for much of his career. Hence a 28 game career vs 121 one does not make for a reasonable comparison.
Based on what i’ve seen I certainly don’t think it’s close and am shocked to find ppl disagree... Minch certainly hit the scoreboard more and was better with his assists. His better games were better than Mav’s and iMO he played better ones more often though he was inconsistent.
The unfortunate thing stopping a decent comparison was that Richo’s tolerance for a poorer performance was lower with Minch who was often dropped right away unlike Mav (see 2017) and he was apparently more willing to play Mav injured (see 2017).
I would also say that Dasher’s form at Sandy where he played more midfield was also markedly better.
If i had to pick between a player that was decent with fluctuating form and injury prone vs one that is mediocre but consistent... i’d Take the former. That’s just me

Re: MINCHINGTON NOT OFFERED NEW CONTRACT
Minch, if he were at a club with good development,
would have gotten to 60-80 games by now.
Our club CANNOT develop players, and Minch is proof, as are lots of others.
He has the skill. He has the tools.
The club has too many guys that can't play well most of the time,
so making it tough for incoming fringe players to really thrive.
They need to do a lot of heavy lifting from the very start.

Nah, couldn't get on the park enough. Would always be a patchy player, goes missing too often.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Thu 06 Sep 2018 6:44pm Minch, if he were at a club with good development,
