Really like this kid. Cool head, good hands, backs himself and good kick.
21 disposals and 7 marks.
Good pick up.

Yep. Great pickup and trade actually which also netted us Claravino.

Yep brown should never get a game ahead of the Carlisle / Austin combo - Goddard didn't have great game but hopefully is retained and seen as a work in progress

Austin moves very well for a big guy - I think he could be not dissimilar to Jake.

You could pretty well cut and paste my above comments for the forward line re Marshall - keep Marshall in the team - he moves very well for an even bigger guy - I think Battle will be a star and Bruce moves well - Mcarten is 100% trade for me (sorry for going off topic!)

No I think the trade which got us the pick we used for Claravino was a separate trade with Port Adelaide.
But nevertheless Austin looks good and hopefully Claravino will make it.

Austin looked calm back there, however Gilbert as usual butchered everything.

Sam Gilbert really helped to hold our backline together tonight, but geez he really did butcher it a couple of times.

Next week may be his farewell game, and I'll be there to thank him for his great contribution to the club.

Excellent prospect. Probably needs to work on his 1-1 defending a little and this is the reason Brown gets games before him.

Will be better player than N.Brown though

Different player and might give up more scoring opportunities than Brown but offers run, rebound and has decent skills.

Brown is a 1970’s defender that can spoil and little else.

Worth persevering with Austin.

He’s really more suited to the third tall role with a view of exploiting the his opponent with his run...

Less key back IMO

You can only trade McCartin if someone will take him.
Someone renewed his contract until the end of 2020.

No. Trade was:

Oct 19, 11:18am
Trade # 13
STK
St Kilda receives Logan Austin and a future fourth-round draft selection

PORT
Port Adelaide receives a future third-round draft selection

This was the trade that gain Clavarino:

Oct 19, 1:54pm
Trade # 26
PORT
Port Adelaide receives a fourth-round draft selection (No.59 at time of trade), a fourth-round draft selection (No.63 at time of trade) and a future second-round draft selection

STK
St Kilda receives on-traded second-round draft selection (No.34 at time of trade) and future on-traded round-four draft selection

So Calvarino will need to be good as we swapped a lower pick in a supposed sueperdraft for him. with an extra fourth rounder to boot.

Agree with skeptic.......I dont think he is a key backman. I am not convinced yet but he has time on his side. Be good if there was another good backman to mentor him. I didnt think Goddard was playing for about 3/4 of the game until the commentator mentioned him. Certainly a player who keeps a low profile.

The thing is you probably cant dump it all on Clavarinos head - I dont think the trades can be taken separately - they were probably agreed upon as single deal - looks like we got Austin too cheap and might have paid to much (trade wise) for Clavarino - but the deals combined balance out and you would hope the guys doing the deals are smart enough to know both deals are going to happen

You are absolutely right - the Austin deal was done with an eye to settling the account at the end of the trade period once we saw where all the cards had fallen - it was discussed at the time.

These two trades go hand in hand.

Will never forget him playing 2 very serviceable games earlier this year, only for our fearless leader to chop him down personally in his presser.

Same as Freeman.

It was at that time I knew Richo had no idea.

yep.. should have been ahead of Gilbert's spot all year.
Has the ability to play similar roles, and should have been nurtured in the big league
