Situation dire according to Roo
Well, we all knew that already.
https://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/ ... 2fc28c8787
"ST KILDA great Nick Riewoldt admits coach Alan Richardson is under pressure after the Saints’ rebuild failed to go to plan.
The Saints currently sit in 15th ahead of only Carlton, Gold Coast and Brisbane with four wins in a season where finals were an expectation.
Riewoldt believes patience was wearing thin in the fan base after falling from ninth in 2016 to 11th in 2017 and a bottom-four finish this season.
“It is a dire situation at St Kilda at the moment,” he told Fox Footy.
“Because (it’s been) a really transparent rebuild which hasn’t gone to plan.
“The club and the administration asked for a lot of patience from the supporters and you just feel that that is starting to wear really thin.”
Richardson has come under fire after a season of poor results and Riewoldt conceded there was pressure on the club but backed Simon Lethlean’s review.
“The results so far this year would suggest he’s under pressure and I think he understands that and the football club are aware of that,” he said.
“That is what the review really has been about.
“Whether the landscape will change over the next two weeks only the club can answer that."

Beautifully put the winds of change squarely back at the feet of Lethlean where they should be

I liked the way Riewoldt said that the club has to have some flexibility towards retaining Richardsons services after this year dependent on how the last couple of games go. Read into that what you will but Richardson has to be able to be sacked if we dont win the last 2 games. He just cant be allowed to coach the club in 2019.

Things can change very quick remember we finished above Collingwood last season and they looked in all sorts of trouble.

Of course. Since Caro's bombshells of Monday night - Roo's comments now fall nicely into the 'changing of the narrative' bucket from "Richo is the man to lead us" to "... unless we're noncompetitive in the last couple of games and we have no choice".chico2001 wrote: ↑Thu 16 Aug 2018 1:36pm I liked the way Riewoldt said that the club has to have some flexibility towards retaining Richardsons services after this year dependent on how the last couple of games go. It's all just softening up the football public for the inevitable.

Reiwoldt talks pretty directly, has a way with words, is in the know and is cutting edge. When he talks ...you listen.Puts some of the other experts to shame for sure.

Why they had doubts about there backs and forwards. No question about a strong midfield but we still beat them easy.

Then could you put together an 18 man team from our list which would be competitive with the top 4, assuming:
- 4 new players can come in through Trade Draft etc and any of the starting 18 can be put on the bench
- No injuries
- Players must be named in a position (ie it is no good having 8 HBF)
I cant.
Maybe:
Back ******** : ******** : ********
HBF Roberton : Carlisle : Billings
Centre Sinclair : Acres : ********
HFF ******** : ******** : Membrey
Forward Gresham : ******** : Long
Rucking ******** : Steven : ********
Others are warriors - but I would not say they are going to be there at our next tilt.
If McCartin had the tank, I would be running him off the wing
Battle may prove to be a great forward but is untried
Marshall/Pierce would be the ruck combo I would go with - one resting forward/back depending on the need.

Don't sack him if we are not going to do it soon.
Our next coach needs to be the best we can get and the process of selection must be very diligently worked through and not rushed.
