Josh Bruce
Stop trying to make him a ruckman.
Let him be a mobile marking forward.
His breakout year got everyone excited.
Now he's been worked out, last year he was less effective, this year same.
Let him mark the ball n kick goals.
It's what he was born for.

Agreed.
Use Carlisle as the back up ruckman.

The white centre circle should get Carlisle's attention.The_President wrote:Moods wrote:Plus he can't ruck. He showed that last year. He's about 5cm too small and doesn't have the body

Re: Josh Bruce
I think his issue is not playing in the ruck... in fact as a key forward, a run on the ball (as many current fwds do) is good, it's less explosive running, you get a few cheap kicks ... it certainly doesn't effect the ability to play forward... the second ruckman role is almost inconsequential... most teams do it
His performance forward of the ball, is poor however... he is too easily spoiled, to easily out marked
He was woeful on Sat

Don't like the idea of Hickey having spells down back. He doesn't like defending.The_President wrote:Moods wrote:Plus he can't ruck. He showed that last year. He's about 5cm too small and doesn't have the body

Re: Josh Bruce
Bruce could go back and rest Hickey forward. But I hear Carlisle hates rucking.SydneySainter wrote:Don't like the idea of Hickey having spells down back. Re: Josh Bruce
But the the suggestion here is to make Bruce a permanent forward, moving him back would just be redundant.shrodes wrote:Bruce could go back and rest Hickey forward. Re: Josh Bruce
I understand why people don't want to play 2 ruckmen and leave Bruce as a forward, but what we are doing now isn't
working so is it worth trying something new?
If we are really lucky ground time in the forward line may see a resting ruck get confidence and provide an option.

Re: Josh Bruce
Playing as a forward is more demanding than a rest
Continual motion
Defensive pressure
3/4 press
Hit up
Reset
2-3-4 leads
These are synonymous with a forward, explosive, repeat running is expected and why it's not a rest
