Hear me out
What if, maybe once a quarter, we played paddy in the centre square ala roughhead? Could help with our physicality in there, and has good hands, might make him work a bit harder too with a five minute stint in the midfield, which is what made me think of it in the first place. Get him amongst it and give the boy a real challenge, with the idea of making him a more complete player. Once fyfe and hopper come over next year he'll be banished back into the fifty.
Obviously this isn't my finest work, but be interested to hear if anyone thinks it could help his development as a player and ours as a team.
With all that said though, I feel paddy's body is finally starting to transition into that of a footballers', which is good for the lad, but it is still quite a ways off. The quicker he gets his mobility up the harder it will be to drop him for a small 'pressure' forward like lonie.

That's so crazy it might just work.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

With all due respect, AFL coaching panels don't pluck random ideas out of their arses on a weekly basis.
They spend hours upon hours trying to teach their players to do the same thing every game, every quarter, every play. It takes years for them to learn it in most cases.
McCartin will be learning a role, and at the same time working on his physical and mental development as a player.
Throwing hail Mary's on a whim just isn't how AFL coaches operate.

Re: Hear me out
I think we need more variation in the centre bounces and stoppages.
Just plonking Armo, Ross and Dunstan there time and time again when we are trying to stop an onslaught hasn't worked all that well for us in the last 24 months.
