Which AFL Official DID NOT check the major events Calendar and put a game up against the Grand Prix

The GP usually starts at 4pm.

Round One on GP weekend is dumb, scheduling a game right on race time is completely stupid.

I think we played GP day last year (2015) albeit the 1pm slot

Grand Prix was March 20th with AFL opening round the following weekend and we played in Adelaide
Often our supporter day used to clash with GP

If you want talented administrators you have to pay for them.
That is pay them a hell of a lot less so they concentrate on their job instead spending their days bludging, what they call networking.

50 years ago I remember our club being taunted as Jews.
Someone should tell the AFL that unlike Joseph Gutnick (bankrupt) most St Kilda supporters are not Jews from East St Kilda and so we can attend football games on the Sabbath (Fridays nights and Saturday afternoons).

Good point Ace.

If you remember when the Hun put out a story on Grand Final Day 1966 that Ian Synman would not be able to play because it was his sabath. Even though Ian had played every Saturday during the season. Duh.

And I can recall Ian's father who had a pharmacy in the city, going on most of the radio stations, saying it was untrue and mischievous of the paper. He assured us, 'his boy Ian' would definitely be running out with the Saints. That was the days of transistor radio. Standing in the que waiting to get into the game, Saint supporters with trannie radios, had us all crowding around their little trannie listening to Ian's dad give us the good news - was like hearing the sermon from the mount!

Note how language has changed, a trannie in them there days was a transistor radio - today it's a transvestite!

The difference was that GF day in 66 fell on Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar and a day of atonement. A bit like Good Friday for Christians. It was a big deal at the time. Needed special dispensation from his Rabbi to play. Bet he's glad he did!

BTW - Round 1 was moved-
2 melbourne teams Now play Saturday at Etihad- Saints vs Dees

and North melbourne Play West Coast Sunday at the earlier time of 1.10- PRE race time

Saints fans NOT trying to get from Southern Suburbs Past race day traffic

But we end the season with 3 Sundays in a row- with the last round Unknown

Why?

Traffic is fine. Kings Way and St Kilda Rd will both be open. In fact, there is less
traffic on GP day than normal as so many people avoid the area!

Now that it's on the Saturday, I believe Jake Carlisle will miss. Apparently it's his sister's wedding that day. Will he ever play for us?

He's skipping the wedding.

A LAST-MINUTE change to the round one fixture looks set to cost St Kilda recruit Jake Carlisle the chance to attend his sister's wedding.

If he plays the first game I hope he doesn't regret not going to his sister's wedding and blames us for it and holds a grudge.
It might be better if he goes to the wedding.

I left my sister's wedding and got to the 'G at half-time in the 1971 Preliminary Final. The family still frowns every time it's mentioned and I was only a spectator!

Still, we won and I got drowned and my new suit resembled an old spud sack by the time I got home.

Still plenty of time for Jake's sister to give her boyfriend the flick or rearrange the wedding date. Come to think of it, she has had since last November to set a bloody date that wasn't in the footy season while Jake was suspended!
