EMERGING midfielder Seb Ross says he and fellow young St Kilda leaders have the confidence to step up and call out their older, more experienced teammates if needed.

The Saints, who sit ninth on the ladder with a 10-9 record, are still mathematical chances of featuring in this year’s finals series after a much-improved season off the back of career-best campaigns from their younger players, including Ross, Jack Steven, Luke Dunstan, Tim Membrey, Blake Acres and Shane Savage.

When asked on Fox Footy’s AFL 360 whether he would stand up to the likes of Riewoldt in a post-game review, Ross admitted: “Yep for sure ... He’s only human.”

Ross added that the majority of St Kilda’s list was around his age (23-years-old), with many of those younger players, including Jack Steven and Jack Newnes, now in the club’s leadership group.

You are probably just being facetious, but I'll bite...I think what it does is firstly helps promote the Saints FC and why not take advantage atm while there's such a great vibe around the team and our list and our future plans including relocating the training base. Finnis and the club have been outstanding in their involvement and emphasis in all areas of media.

Secondly it helps young players and emerging leaders with their public speaking and their confidence which in turn generates more time in media (because players are comfortable and have fun doing their job) and that in turn creates more interest in the Saints brand
