Re: Bruce form
He has been struggling for a lot longer than this year. Add the last half of last year as well. Has escaped scrutiny for far too long.

Should be dropped for next week
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.
Re: Bruce form
Needs to work out how to get involved when he's not scoring goals.
His play over this year wouldn't of been that bad if we could stick more marks. His contested marking needs work.
But in games like today we are basically playing a man down

Re: Bruce form
His role has changed. He is just a workhorse now, (taken Riewoldts role roaming rather than stay at home) who tries to defend and chase. It's what all fwds now spruke. He's forgotten how to get dangerous, he's lost his marking ability.
He had a purple patch

You don't measure them by a purple patch, you just give them 4 year contracts insteadBigMart wrote:His role has changed. Re: Bruce form
It's strange, had a running joke at home that Bruce will take marks so long as it's not in the forward 50. It's gone on a lot longer than I would have thought, he's taken some good grabs at half back from kick ins this year though,ROLS-LEE wrote:Needs someone else to do the ruck duties. Runs himself ragged. Also doesn't seem to clunk thr marks closer to goal.

I agree. Ì think he trying to do to much or feels burdened in trying to do to much.Griggsy wrote:It's strange, had a running joke at home that Bruce will take marks so long as it's not in the forward 50. Re: Bruce form
Wondering if he is carrying an injury as hands don't look as sure as last year. Other factor is last year wouldn't have had as much work put into him by the opposition as this year. With Roo up the ground he now get s the best defender and must learn to deal with that. This is another development year in regards to his game IMO and he will come out the other side better like he did from 2014 to 2015.
Re: Bruce form
gets double teamed a lot more. harder for him to get those one on ones.chook23 wrote:Think he is struggling this year....

Re: Bruce form
Lost his mojo. This high pressure/tackling game of Richo's is pretty exhausting. Seems quite a few players are losing some of their magic maybe after needing to do so much grunt work. That is the trade off. We need better kickers in the team to stop it being bombed forward so much and let the ball do the work and save energy. Days like today it would be damn hard playing forward.

Re: Bruce form
Brucey needs to be mindful of using soft hands, that's been his issue the last few weeks.

Re: Bruce form
He seems to have lost his spark - playing as 2nd ruck is killing him. He has been tired for weeks this is one of Richos and his selectors major weakness, none of them can read the players.

Re: Bruce form
Wow. This post is just incredible. Questioning Josh Bruce? Seriously? The same Josh Bruce who busts his guts every week in the ruck and up forward? Never loses a contest? Works as hard as any forward I've seen since Nick Riewoldt?
Some posters on the forum have lost the plot more than a St Kilda player who took a plane to his game.
There are St Kilda players who deserve to have question marks hanging over them after today. Josh Bruce is not one of them. Football must be a terrible game to watch for those who can't see how much this bloke puts in.

Re: Bruce form
He is working hard enough I just don't think he is as good as people think he is. Now he is getting more attention from defenders he is being found out. Will be a solid 3/4th forward but nothing else, not a star just a forward

Re: Bruce form
I'm amazed with the s*** delivery our forwards get that any of them are able to kick goals.
Armitage, Montagna and Dunstan just blaze away, unless our forwards get 20 metres clear these blokes can't hit a target!!
Armitage in particular yesterday got 4 or 5 centre clearances with time and space and coughed it up every time.

Re: Bruce form
Surely we understand the impact of taking Roo out of f50
He was the player double teamed
He was the centre of attention
He got the number one defender
He took the heat of Bruce
To appreciate Nick Riewoldt, it needs to be understood how hard that role is... and that while Josh Bruce will replace him as a #1 Key Forward
He will never replace him as a player

Re: Bruce form
He just never seems to get any separation. He needs some easy possessions and goals on thd basic lead to get him going, then hd can start going for some marks.

Re: Bruce form
He is trying. Not questioning his work effort.
He just doesn't seem to have touch at the moment. Dropping marks and not winning contests that I thought he would have won.
Confidence?
Playing on better backmen?
He isn't playing like he was. .. Or capable of

Give the guy some time. I believe Josh will come good again.
