Bloody good effort

Post: # 1612486Post fugazi »

Ripping last quarter...proud of the boys.
Thought Gresham had a good one today...starting to see his value.
Roo is a total freak
..Monty not far behind
Gilbert also had a ripper.
We're getting there!

Seriously lookin forward to next season with roo playing on. Going to see much improvement, we would have a couple more wins this season with Carlisle. And If the boys in Vfl step up we will be set, get another top10 pick and a FA.

Said it when we nearly beat the Hawks "Best thing about today is that this will be one of the last time we'll loose to them in a while". Same goes for today. As of next year they'll be eating our dust and no bad umpiring will change that!

We should just put Roo in the cryogenic deep freeze for 9 months and bring him back for next year. No point him getting injured this year given that we wont play finals now. But gee whizz he is still very good.

Tell Boomer Harvey that. No one told Dustin Fletcher either. Montagna has a minimum of 2 years left. He's our next 300 gamer. McCartin will be a regular next year. Carlisle will be CHB next year. Goodard will be regular next year, Membrey is getting the hang of it, it was his 11th game. You have a very blinkered view. Open your eyes.

We missed Sinclair today as he is cool and has some footy smarts.
Lonie is having second year blues and Minchington is struggling.
If Armitage is injured our midfield will be stretched.

I thought Lonie played well today - made a few smooth moves, and that "over the head" handball in the third quarter as he was being tackled was outstanding!
Acres made a few blunders but more than made up for it with several other smart passages of play.
Also I like the awareness and footy smarts of Gresham - can't train that into a bloke. He's gonna be a ripper.

Noticed that he has good awareness of where the opposition players are

Just an observation

Our 30+ players will be a year older next year. As much as we like/think/hope they cannot be our best players forever.

Not blinkered, just not through rose coloured glasses.

Proud of the boys effort today, but the umpiring was a disgrace. This rubbish has been going on for as long as I have followed footy. I would say when I was aged ten I started to understand what was going on, so it has be going on for at 65 years. But in this day and age the umpires should be called to account. If a player does the wrong thing on the field he is punished, but the umpires are protected by the AFL to a ridiculous extent. It was not only our game, apparently Adelaide got cruzified as well.

What about Webster's sprint and double tackle play in the last? Bloody immense.

One thing I'm certain of now is that we picked the right guy to coach. Williams would have been a BIG mistake.

Effort is definitely the defining word today. Neither team could get much flow going but we just kept scrapping away. To finally be able to put in a really good, attacking last quarter even though the players would have been really tired, was fantastic. I thought North were off their best today but our pressure and hassling and second efforts stopped them getting their run on. Great effort to take it too the ladder leader and scare the s*** out of them. And it was great atmosphere by supporters in the last qtr - the crowd was going off when a huge boil over looked a possibility. We've got exciting players like Bruce and Billings who bring the crowd to life with brilliant marks and goals which in turn helps excite the team.
