We can load up and chase him again in 2 years, when we're really up and about...

...(cause GWS will obviously still be struggling with the thin talent pool they have to pick from  )

GWS would have been wanting 5 years at least, Shiel has just bought himself a bit more time to get an even bigger contract when he leaves.

Toby Greene a loose cannon? Drinking beating some dude up at Zagames Caulfield?
He's a spoilt Wesley College rich boy wannabe thug.

What is Carlisle actually worth? Lots of potential, but as of right now he is 24 years old in October and not doing much on the field.

Could we snare him for a second rounder plus someone like Saunders/Murdoch? Or is he only gettable with a below 20 pick?

Saunders and Murdoch are worth nothing. If you want to do a deal where players are chucked in we need to be realistic. Carlisle is to much of a risk with the ongoing WADA situation. And he is below 20 pick anyway.

I still think we kick back and cool our heels and hit the draft for 15 & 16.
If we can get up to mid table in 2017 and the youngsters start firing - then we hit a FA then.
Goddard, Billings, D-Mac, Acres and Paddy will be 20-22. We want to be playing finals in 2018.

For that to happen we need to hope that the young group all come on. I still think there could be more pain to come. Losing Roo Monty Chips Dempster Gilbert Ray Schneider is going to leave some big holes. Especially in defence.

The way it's looking, there aren't that many trade targets in the elite mid category left. So wouldn't be surprised if we just went to the draft and were patient.

Steven Motlop a possibility? Gives us that outside speed we need, but might not have the Saints attitude.
