A Dylan Roberton Thread
Today must have been his best game since 2013. Great to have him back. He was greatly missed last year after that injury.
What is his nickname? Someone on here called him "Bertie". I like that as a nickname.

Re: A Dylan Roberton Thread
He was great last week as well - think we can now say is very good -- was injured last year and had surgery to sort it out..
Can someone clarify - did we get him on a walk , followed by Weller on a walk the next year followed by mebmbrey on a walk the next year -- is this the unhyped story of just how good our recruiting has been the last few years ?? You feel like we could really be making an impact In a couple of years if our 'free' guys are that good

I thought Dylan's real name was Robert Zimmerman?Sainternist wrote:What is his nickname? Someone on here called him "Bertie". I like that as a nickname.

Yes. Requested a trade from Freo at the end of 2013 season and ended up being a delisted free agent. So we got him for nothing.saint6709 wrote:He was great last week as well - think we can now say is very good -- was injured last year and had surgery to sort it out..

Re: A Dylan Roberton Thread
He had a top game today.... a lot of times i get nervous when a few of our defenders have gone to take a kick in defense. I don't get that feeling with Roberton.

Dylan keeps taking steady steps forward. The fact he takes kick outs regularly shows he's becoming more confident (did one bad turnover from kick out but that happens)Where his long term position is I'm not really sure though. Might be that Farren Ray type wing/backline utility player who can occasionally push up forward perhaps.

Very happy he's made it through. Was a bit worried when he looked proppy after the goal; hoping it was cramp and not the ankle or whatever it was that plagued him last year.
Unbelievably valuable to have another player who can slot into multiple positions. And hit a target ...

Re: A Dylan Roberton Thread
Having not seen many games of late he's one i've been a bit curious about
Good to hear he's doing well.
What is his role at the moment?
What are his strengths and what does he need to work on?
Most importantly, for comparisons sake... Who is a current AFL player that we want him to become so to speak

Playing mostly on a wing and half back. Is very composed with the ball, doesn't panic. Has got his movement back and looks as fit as he's been since arriving at St Kilda. Has laid some big tackles and bobbed up to kick some handy goals.skeptic wrote:Having not seen many games of late he's one i've been a bit curious about

Has been a huge positive for us this season. We all saw his talent in 2013 but looked horrible at times last year after that nasty ankle injury. I'm rapt for him because he seems like a really good bloke too. As for a player comparison, he is not dissimilar to Grant Birchall I reckon.

Mature head on (relatively) young shoulders. Will wear the number 17 for another 9 or 10 years with pride. Great to see he is living up to his 2013 promise.

Always had lots of respect for Roberton after this incident https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axFxdRNykY8 and his terrific 2013.
Good to see him back to his best.
