Re: New midfielder
Good god why didn't you think of this ten years ago!
"Now the ball is loose, it gives St. Kilda a rough chance. Black. Good handpass. Voss. Schwarze now, the defender, can run and from a long way".....

Re: New midfielder
The size of midfielders nowadays means that Rooey may be too short to play there.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Re: New midfielder
I thought they were waiting until he was 40 before they moved him, let's see how it goes if that's what they do this season.MC Gusto wrote:Roo to the midfield is what im hearing
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

We should play Barry Hall on Carey when we play North.Con Gorozidis wrote:Ive got a new idea. Roo to the wing (like Richo) and Kosi to CHB.

Re: New midfielder
Don't laugh people. Midfield time makes sense the way the game is played and his running ability and field kicking.

Re: New midfielder
And the fact that we have Bruce, Lee, White, McCartin, Longer, Hickey and Membrey on the list. I'd be happy to see Roo spend some time further up the ground to give the young forwards a chance to be the main targets, but at the end of the day if we're trying to win a game our best chance is if Roo is at CHF. Could be a good damage control method against top teams though; have Roo starting on a wing and playing behind the ball/at half back as a link up player.BackFromUSA wrote:Don't laugh people. Re: New midfielder
If this is true, I would downgrade my prediction of 1-3 wins for the season to a big fat zero.MC Gusto wrote:Roo to the midfield is what im hearing
Re: New midfielder
Agreed, if he gets 30+ possessions at Sandy a few weeks in a row then he's earned a spot.bergsone wrote:Maybe we should give him a few games at Sandy first ,to get used to his new roll

Re: New midfielder
I think our midfield is probably going to be our big weakness this year (I hope I am proved wrong), so just plonk Roo in the middle of the ground.

Re: New midfielder
As long as he takes a few bounces and goals from 50 it's ok, because that is what will be required if he's a midfielder.BackFromUSA wrote:Don't laugh people. Midfield time makes sense the way the game is played and his running ability and field kicking.

Re: New midfielder
He certainly did but luckily players don't pick where they play. Roo as a mid is funny.Mr Magic wrote:I'm pretty sure I remember hearing Roo stating this move in the interview he gave on 'Captain's Day' , so I'm not sure why this is such a revelation?

Re: New midfielder
Rob Harvey once said that Riewoldt was one of the most natural Forwards he had ever seen and scoffed at the idea he should play anywhere else. I can't agree more.
