Re: McKenna Gone
Was always going to be tough holding on to the post with the inevitable first few seasons producing no success. I hope our club sticks fat with Richo through a similar period.

Poor old Guy McKenna. Not a bad coach, just not the man for premiership according to club. So @MarkDuffield1 was right yesterday after all

Gold Coast Suns sack coach Guy McKenna after four years at helm of AFL expansion club
The Gold Coast Suns have sacked coach Guy McKenna after he led the club for the first four years of its history.
Suns chairman John Witheriff told McKenna on Tuesday the club would not honour the final year of his contract.
While a football department review had been completed, it is understood a critical mass of the Suns board did not believe McKenna should continue on regardless of its content.
The Suns are yet to announce the decision officially, but are expected to hold a media conference at 2:00pm AEST on Wednesday.
The Suns finished 12th in 2014 after a finals push was cut short by captain Gary Ablett's shoulder injury, but the club had been showing steady improvement since its introduction to the league in 2011.

Re: McKenna Gone
didnt really rate him to be honest ... he was always going to be a caretaker coach for gold coast while they built on their early draft picks ... the results he got as a coach were about the same as you would expect any coach to get over that period but looking forward the Suns were realistically the loss of GAbblet away from their first finals this year so now would be the time to move away from the caretaker coach into the challanging coach ... who gets the gig is the big question there isnt really any premiership credential coaches on the market except Bomber Thompson or maybe Choco Williams

Re: McKenna Gone
a guy at work and myself are two from three, although we are a year out on the timing
we both agreed the top 3 in the firing line were sando, mckenna and hardwick (especially if the tigers flounder again next year)
although we did say they would be gone next year, not this year!

Not the right man for the job. Watch GC fly under Bummer.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Is does but its like when an apprentice jockey is on a star racehorse. Happy for him to ride the horse through the grades but know there is a better jockey out there when the whips are cracking. Bomber was a great coach and imagine he still is so why not get him if he is available.

Re: McKenna Gone
Well im not real sad for him on two counts:
1. The rumours he got stuck into Harbrow and brought up crap from the Bulldogs a million years ago when Harbrow was a fringe 21yo starting out (the rumour was Mckenna tried to blame him for the Dogs lack of success which is borderline insane if true).
2. The fact he turned up to the meeting with #Tirdy. One of only 3 coaches to rock up. Maybe Guy had some sympathy because he was on the gear back at the Eagles in the 90s under Matty Barber.

McKenna can rot in failed coaching wilderness - just desserts for his pathetic performance when he faked being knocked out by Plugger in 1989

That makes it only two AFL coaches who turned up to the Tird pow-wow, and one of those (McCartney) owed him for a job reference.Con Gorozidis wrote:Well im not real sad for him on two counts:
