We looked like a completely different team. Effort is one thing but we looked more skilful, composed and well drilled, things that don't change over the space of a week.

I happened to catch a word with Dermott Brereton at 1/2 time, and asked him if having Josh Bruce up forward had made a difference. He replied that Bruce is not "a natural forward" and that his presence there, was helping to create doubts for the Freo defenders. I guess Rhys Stanley's performance also helped! Fisher at the back also gave a welcome shot of composure down in that department. Jimmy Gwilt played ever so well, with his old mate back!

Yes our structure was different. Having Stanley as an effective forward meant Roo could run riot on the wing. That's our killer blow.

Shut down Stanley and then you force Roo deep into.the forward line and we are stuffed again.

pretty rife in Perth ... lots of people saying Freo only sent their "b" team over ...
most are pretty much saying we deserved to win but many are saying it was because who Freo had out of the side as well

It was great for our developing side to experience a win like that against Freo but I don't think there are too many that would disagree that Freo's best absolutely smashes our best (every day of the week!).

We got them on an (off) day and they got us on an (on) day...simple as that.

Sorry bro but those losses in 2009 were meaningless. The shockers were playing for 4 Pts to get entrenched in the top 2. They couldn't handle the pressure applied by our guys and played accordingly. Whether they were complacent or not, a contender shouldn't be not 'on.

No excuses whatsoever. I laugh when I hear about 'teams coming not coming to play' or 'not bringing their A game'. Whilst the margin and intensity of our Saints was a bit of a surprise, take nothing away. Kept expecting the Shockers to mount a comeback in the 3rd qtr but they were just swept away. Pretty weak as piss effort. Gumbies the lot of them, especially the players they had out

s*** effort from Freo. They wont win the flag. I reckon it just shows how lose they are above the shoulders.

That is an embarrassing loss by Freo. A team, B team or whatever. When you are playing for a top two spot, and a real advantage as you roll into the last month of H & A, you dont lose to the team coming last, that have not won a game in 3 months.

Talk it up as they will, but that was no "training load" and it was not due to the players they left at home.... They got a good old fashioned pantsing.

I visited "Docker Discussions" to see how they would react to the result. I was surprised to see many of their posters giving credit to our boys for such a gutsy effort! Amazing really, wow, they're so similar to our forum in many ways, such as "where's Lyon's plan B"? "How does Zac Dawson get a game" I could have swore I read broadly similar posts on SS a short three or so years ago
