It's a missed chance.

The club has been hearing the negative feedback about Seaford.
The previous administration chose to ignore it.
The current administration has recognised it and made some positive noises about embracing Moorabbin more.

This would have been the perfect time to accentuate that perception by bringing the AGM back to the heartland.

The AGM is that far out so that it minimises the attendance.

Less accountability.

The cynic in me says so anyways...

probably true. Why not avoid scrutiny when you're as badly run as we are.

I've been to about 20 AGMs over the years.
But Frankston on a Friday at 6:30pm - no way.

The day/time/location seems to be designed to ensure as few people as possible attend!!!!!!

I go ever year but don't say a word.

One day I will build up the courage a decent question. Let's just say a lot there arn't many decent questions usually...

Looking forward to Westaway not running it. Was very loose when chairing, I felt didn't take questioning seriously.

Maybe we can create a thread of questions, well researched and backed up for Saintsational as a group and input them into the session.

I've heard two decent questions before at a Saints AGM.

The first regarding our constitution and putting a time limit years of service (ie Westaway being forced out this year is actually due to a change he installed into our constitution)... The woman detailed other great and successful sporting teams which don't require this 'good goverance' being Collingwood and Manchester United.

The second from memory was an attack on our marketing and sponsorship performance which actually detailed the results of many AFL peers like the Western Bulldogs in terms of sponsorship revenue.

You get the same old answers with the board if you can't back it up. In the past I have had concerns but never done the research beforehand.

Maybe we can have people throw up questions they would like asked and we could nominate the top 2... And we can structure them with facts and figures and hit them right between the eyes.

I certainly don't want the board getting off lightly this year.

Besides, that's margarita hour here.

Terrible public questions ("I've got this person three rows in front of me who stands up when we kick a goal. Mr Westaway, can you tell him to sit down?") interspersed with very good ones usually kill the momentum.

I've seen excellent questions - one which hold the board to account - booed by other members and then summarily laughed off by the board. Such as why are our finances in such a parlous state.

I hope we get some detailed - NOT VAGUE ANSWERS - information on:

- The stadium deal. Why? When? How? Alternatives? Essendon's deal?
- The decision on Watters. Now the dust has settled, did the board make the wrong call hiring him? How and why?
- Moorabbin. Where's it at, what can we hope for, what are you [the board] aiming for?
- AFL funding. How long do we need to be on the drip?
- VFL team - it should be highlighted that Footscray already have theirs and we ought to be embarrassed at being left for dead.
- Seaford. Can we make put a statement - on the recorded minutes of the meeting - that it was a mistake to go there?

Let's see whether the AV Jennings man cares about reforming the club or sees being president as an excuse to get a free meal on match day.

Just a bit of research would tell you;

Stadium Deal... Good question. Could be added to by asking "Is our and/or any other clubs lobbying the AFL to buy out the contract"

Watters. I suspect there are confidentiality clauses on BOTH sides

Moorabbin. Plans have been made. Gov't funding is being sought. Our VFL side WILL be playing out of there from 2016

AFL funding. We are NOT on the drip. We're not in a good state but we are NOT on the drip

VFL team. As per Moorabbin answer

Seaford. It's a training base, nothing more, nothing less and won't change

!!

I'd like to see the AGM held at a City location. Why should we restrict ourselves to being a "BAYSIDE ONLY" club? !!

Have the AGM here in SA at Alberton after the game against Port. Might be more at it than at Frankston

My advice would be to go and ask questions or put forward ideas about the future, avoid asking questions or discussing issues about what has happened in the past, complete waste of everyone's time IMO.

Rest assured the journalists will ensure the past is always dredged up adequately enough for those that love to feast on blood and guts.

I would love to know the ongoing "projects" that Nettledfold couldn't committ to which caused him to quit are. They were supposed to be announced months ago but the silence has me thinking they have either fallen thru or the were bulls*** in the first place .

i might be differant but in my opinion why would you want to bother with rehashing over things that have already been done ?

Seaford - what will be gained by getting a statement like that ? honestly why is it soo important too you to hear the club say it was a mistake ? how will saying it was a mistake make things better ? how will saying its a mistake make the transition easier where is the benefit? from my knowllege the players have accepted that they got a longer drive in fact many now live closer to seaford than Moorabbin ... i dont get why the mambers are so worked up about where the team do their weights , have their meetings and do their training ? to me its like getting upset over the local bunnings distribution centre moving .. the local bunnings still provides its goods (games) in the same place (Ethihad) it just stores its stock elsewhere ...
