Watching Lyon's Dockers tonight
Can you see us playing like that in five years? Applying relentless, frenzied pressure even more so than Freo is tonight? That's what it will take.
Building the list again from scratch, we will have no excuses.
I certainly hope so.

Freo intensity versus hawthorn foot skills could be good to watch

Shows that attitude and discipline is everything. We are not a bottom 3 team. The coaching over the next 2 years is critical in developing and drilling the players- just how Ross did with us.Munga wrote:Can you see us playing like that in five years? Their board must be sore from the back slapping at the moment. Btw, Woodside is a decent sponsor...

Not sure you can play with that sort of intensity two weeks in a row. And certainly not for a whole game, unless you're on something. So I have a feeling they won't look so awesome next week.

True, which is what's amazing about freo, they have sustained it much longer.Moods wrote:Waltzing St Kilda wrote:Not sure you can play with that sort of intensity two weeks in a row. I guess resources can come into it.

Better than
Hayes, Goddard, Fisher, Da Santo, Montagna, Gardiner, Riewoldt, Milne.... There's 8 all Australians
In 09 we had about 5
Freo had 1 this season

and the Swans were terrible. Injury ravaged and not as hungry.
Freo were good but they were allowed to play like that to a certain extent.

I actually disagree. The finals is the first time we have seen this type of defensive pressure turned up to this degree. We were doing it in H&A games that quite possibly wore us out as the season wore on. The Dockers have been far smarter - have put in place great defensive structures, but the frontal pressure has been turned full throttle for finals. It's shocked teams

Crap, swans where shell shocked.... Just like the cats. Freo played them into mistakes. Can't take anything away from their effort onight. When they knew they had it they backed off.SaintPav wrote:and the Swans were terrible. Injury ravaged and not as hungry.

We started fast and faded as the year went on, and by the finals the team was spent. I think Ro$$ learned from his time at St Kilda and is doing things differently now.

Re: Watching Lyon's Dockers tonight
No we didn't. Not at that level. A handful of wins in the '09 streak we were lucky to get away with. Not saying we weren't awesome though.Moods wrote:Waltzing St Kilda wrote:Not sure you can play with that sort of intensity two weeks in a row. I would say the Pies applied that sort of pressure for the most sustained period in '10-'11 but I'm not convinced they weren't "enhanced".
