How to tell the difference between Milne and Montagna

Post: # 1389418Post GrumpyOne »

The defence barrister also asked for permission to cross-examine the alleged victim during November’s committal hearing about her past sexual activity with Mr Montagna.

During the night in question, the alleged victim and her girlfriend had met up with Mr Montagna and Mr Milne before the then 19-year-old had sex with Mr Montagna.

Mr Dunn said the alleged victim had later gone into another room and spoken with Mr Milne before the pair had sex, with the woman later telling police she believed Mr Milne had been Mr Montagna.

The defence barrister described this scenario as ‘‘improbable’’ because the alleged victim had previously had sex with Mr Montagna so she had an understanding of his body shape, his physical characteristics and the shape of his penis.

Magistrate Peter Reardon agreed this evidence was highly relevant and granted Mr Dunn permission to cross-examine the alleged victim about her previous sexual activity with Mr Montagna.

"Mr Dunn said the tape was important to the case because the alleged victim’s story had varied from time to time and her mother did not provide a statement to police until last year."

I 'heard' that the girl doesn't really want to proceed with this case, but her mum is hell bent on proceeding.

She spoke to Milne before they had sex? And she could not tell he wasn't Montagna? Have you ever heard the two of them speak? Chalk and cheese!

That was point earlier two. One has a lisp and the other slight italian twang (if that's the right term). Chalk and cheese as you say.

Stop this <edited by mods>.

Why don't you all just grow up and realise a former Saints player is facing serious charges in a court of law, the result of which will have a major impact on his, and his family's future.

Just shut <edited by mods> up until this is over.

If you fancy yourself as the new saviour of this forum, I would suggest that posts about the sexual behaviour of our players is not the way to improve the standard of the forum.

You've probably just broken every rule you suggested.

I thought the above post was about the difference between the way these young men speak, but I could be wrong !!

Bernard - with all due respect I was making a comment on the news article at the top of this thread. My comment was in regards to evidence in the court case where it is claimed that the two of them spoke before the sexual act ... given that Milne has a distinctive voice, I have made a valid point, how could she have not known it was Milne?

Now please explain to me what forum rule this breaks? The rules are listed at the top of the forum. Find one breach and I shall give myself an official warning!!!

I agree with bernie.

This thread isn't edifying, and doesn't reflect well at all on SS IMO.

Don't trivialise what is a very serious matter.

Distasteful.

This is not a laughing matter?

When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

K,

This thread is a bit of light hearted banter about a very serious topic. Perhaps you should look a little deeper into why Milney's lawyer made application to cross examine the alleged victim this way. It's his job to discredit, humiliate and embarrass her. That is what Milney is paying the big bucks.

If you think this thread is distasteful you would be best advised not to read the papers, not to listen to the radio and not watch any tv news once the court case starts. Because of the profile of the case, every cringe worthy detail will be reported, and that is in Milney's best interest. Yes, its going to make people cringe, so be ready for it !!

I was told that personally back in 2004 by a former (retired now) high ranking Vic detective.

The thread itself is fine, it's a discussion referring to media reports of the court case. Surely we are allowed to discuss the case?

Some of the comments are probably in poor taste... but it's the Internet. Report or stop reading...

This is not making for an exact comparison, but I'm seeing some similarities...

We have a crime (allegedly at this stage) commited by one of our own.

The fallout has drawn anger from some who see the allegations as a beat up, and as once again resulting in bad publicity for our beloved Saintas. So they have come out in defence of the accused and the club.

Some of the surrounding circumstances have have also provided the opportunity for humour... which some have considered inappropriate.

Inappropriate (maybe) because the humour is seen as debasing/potentially debasing the seriousness of the some of the issues involved... and hence raising the potential for an escalation of the risk of harm being commited against certain groups of vulnerable people.

This is not making for an exact comparison, but I'm seeing some similarities...

The two groups of potentially at risk people that I am refering to here are, women and the disabled.

This only a few saints supporters on a fan forum chatting about something that is happening in the "real" world.

It has no affect on reality, it won't affect the outcome of the court case and it certainly won't affect Milne's Innocence or guilt or how his family copes with the issue.

Will we pick up a player in the SSP window :?:
