We've been able to match it with top four sides this year, albeit never for four quarters. I've never thought our ladder position told the story and I'm liking the look of that 22.

I don't think new recruits are going walk in and solve our problems immediately- some will take while to get established. Roberton was a bit of an exception.

I'm a Beau fan, but I'd take him out of that line-up.
No sold on Roo on a wing.
Rotate Roo, Lee and Rhys Lightning through full forward and centre half forward.
Milera out to be replaced by anyone(!!!)..., but preferably Minch' or Saunders.
We also have to keep a spot warm for Spenc-aarrrrrrhhhhhh!
And hopefully another spot for at least one boom draft recruit.

Are you sure Jack Steven should be in there? (I've read that he's not very good, and simply too slow when matched against even half decent opposition.)

Finally, you're a brave man... no Owl(?) However, if last season's form was not affected by physical or personal issues..., then I'm with ya on that one!

Sippa' was for me the biggest disappointment in 2013. (That guy should be a walk-up start, and I reckon he will be, but not currently.) After Sippa' it was Owl's form after that fantastic first game against Carlscum that was the other big disappointment.

It will depend how good Delaney and Bruce are. For example Simpkin may be a better option against players that aren't horribly tall.
From all accounts Bruce struggled against Dawes earlier in the year, wheras Simpkin dealt with him in more ways than one.
So as far as being a "Really good" 22 , no , I don't expect Delaney and Bruce to be the be all and end all of backmen straight away.

Delaney would probably be picked every week, having performed well against players like Hawkins. Bruce would need to earn a spot.

Riewoldt centre, + Maister, Stanley, Hickey, and Lee? No thanks.

If Dal Santo and McEvoy are gawwwwn , maybe we'll have someone else to play midfield or forward.

Our skills will be the difference in climbing up the ladder and frankly we don't have enough of those players.

They will make our backline better over the next 6 or so years we might not see it straight away. Getting guys in the age bracket that suit our needs will fast track them but they are both inexperienced. Fisher and Roo will both be gone by 2016. If we don't start gap filling now we could be like Melbourne for years.

I agree that we're virtually a certainty for bottom 4 next year, but Dal definitely did help us. When he got switched to defence/behind the ball in the last few rounds we definitely played better.

Though the prospect of getting Bruce and/or Delaney is promising, neither of them are really going to bump us up the ladder significantly. I'm more anxious to see who we draft.

It looks like some on the forum think that no new player will come to the club and improve or be of any worth, and our only hope for the future is to cling to the older blokes who's best is behind them.. a bit like the old parable of Lot's Wife- always looking back and eventually turning to stone(or something like that). We need to move on and quickly.
