Webster subbed off
I thought he'd been pretty good. My theory is that they were going to sub Saad ... as he richly deserved ... and then he kicked that real team lifter on three quarter time.
Did the decision cost us do you think?

Re: Webster subbed off
It's difficult to tell with young players, especially from the outside. We don't know how much Jimmy had left in the tank, how much he was hurting etc !!
NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Re: Webster subbed off
Webster hasn't played a full game yet, I would think the plan was to sub him at 3/4 time all along, unless we we're forced to sub with an injury.
Except for the sanity nothing much has been lost.

Also Wright, why did he miss? I assumed he was injured. Is there any confirmation on that?

Was doing a fitness test on the ground prior to the game. Copped that massive knock last week. Don't know about Hickey.bigcarl wrote:Also Wright, why did he miss? I assumed he was injured. Is there any confirmation on that?

SW said last night that Wright said he was ok to play and the docs thought better to precede with caution...

Re: Webster subbed off
Webster had 10 possessions in 3 quarters, Saad had 7 in 4, why was Webster subbed off before Saad?
To my mind Saad is being protected by the selectorts. It has been weeks since he has earnt his selection. WHen you compare his treatment to Milera,s , (dropped twice in the first 9 games) it makes you wonder.

Re: Webster subbed off
I reckon Milera has been dropped for being a bit timid at times. You can't have that and he needs to get it out of his game. Saad on the other hand has just been totally out of touch and down on confidence.borderbarry wrote:Webster had 10 possessions in 3 quarters, Saad had 7 in 4, why was Webster subbed off before Saad?

Plus Milera wants to go home to Adelaide, I heard, and there seems little point in playing him in a developing team if he's not going to be around next year

HBF vs FP is not a valid comparison for number of disposals gathered.

True, the point would be better made if he said Webster looked comfortable and at home while Saad ... apart from a brilliant goal ... looked all at sea.saintsRrising wrote:borderbarry wrote: HBF vs FP is not a valid comparison for number of disposals gathered.

Re: Webster subbed off
They might be trying to not overdo Webster considering all his injuries in the last few years. Just management I think.
Gehrig emerged from scans yesterday saying he was "as sweet as a bun"

Webster wasn't playing in the middle. And at the crux of it, we lost the game in the middle in the last quarter.

Milera is a child who attempts to play as a footballing version of a Harlem Globetrotter.

Re: Webster subbed off
webster was running up and down on the spot near the end of the 2 qtr. I would assume that he just didn't have the tank to go all 4 qtrs.

He was right in front of and he looked like he would need a wheelchair. I was surprised he was named.

Re: Webster subbed off
On form and team balance it shouldn't have Webster subbed off. He was solid defensively and good with the footy. Meanwhile Saad was doing nothing but robbing us of a midfield rotation.
With that said, we don't really know what Webster's tank is like just yet and whether he's picked up a few niggling injuries. I'd rather they be conservative with the kids than ruin their bodies early on ala Kosi, X.Clarke, Maguire and Ball.

Re: Webster subbed off
I thought Ross would have been the logical sub off, as we were getting smashed in the midfield and around stoppages and Seb was just not getting into the contest enough.

Hopefully Nathan Wright was ropeable about not getting to play too. We need to have guys in who are desperate about their footy, as they'll ultimately be replacing blokes such as Hayes and Riewoldt, not to mention Goddard who has already gone, who are fanatical about their footy.
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...
