why a club moving on means players need to leave? why does a club need to be seen to be honouring a players giving by 'letting them go' why is Honouring a player not seen as being committed to them in staying.....
why can't the moving on be at the club they are at- they will not be younger anywhere else?
they say stay for one and leave for another ....... in same situation...
BTW NDS has a contract and both sides have reinforced that every time asked...
oh well It will now go on all year because a journo or two say so-- and a supporter or two want instant access and expect loyalty but are willing to discard ...
Footy is different these days. Clubs will use players and get all they can out of them then spit them out when they are done. No loyalty. Players play for each other not the jumper. Free Agency reinforces new-age footy culture.

AFL360, Gerard and the fat guy suggested Dal should move on next year to stagger the retirement of our depth all at once.
Mentioned Lenny, Roo, Joey and Dal as the backbone. I'm not saying Dal should go, but if he and the club decided it would be mutually beneficial, and a decent trade could be made, why not?
AFL is a professional sport and sentiment doesn't come into it, except for the supporters.
Yes sport is professional. There's not a lot of emotion between player and club but there is between player and player. You only need to watch the BJ interview after the Dons game for confirmation. So yes sentiment certainly comes into it. They are not punching away on their computer in an office. AFL is not an ordinary job. Its players, or work collegues going to battle with each other.
IMO Goddard left cos he was not wanted by the club. Dal Santo staying comes down to the same factor.

Next year with the retirements of some players and our older players like riewoldt being on the veterans list , meaning half his pay will not be counted under the salary cap .
We should have absolute shiploads of money to spend , this year the cap is 9.13 million , next year it may be slighty higher .
I think we would struggle to reach the 92% that you have to pay even if next year we get a high priced recuit !

Only Dal and his family and manager, know the truth about his form slump.
If he feels listless and jaded, from being in 3 GFs without the chockies, and thinks that the current climate at the club is not helping him, then a change would be win-win.
If you aint happy at your workplace you should look elsewhere.
