Interesting.

Must have been well off the ball. Newnes just seemed disappear with about 3 minutes to go in the first quarter.

I wonder if the Saints queried or whether an injury review of the round noted Jack's concussion.

GREATER Western Sydney ruckman Dean Brogan has been referred directly to the Tribunal to face a rough conduct charge out of Saturday's clash with St Kilda at Manuka Oval.

Brogan has been charged with engaging in rough conduct against St Kilda's Jack Newnes in the first quarter of Saturday's clash.

Newnes was substituted out of the match with concussion.

The AFL completed an investigation into the matter on Monday evening, referring the matter directly to the Tribunal.

As a result, Brogan cannot accept an early plea.

AFL.com.au understands the Giants are planning to fight the charge and have engaged high powered lawyer David Galbally QC to represent Brogan.

The incident is believed to have happened not far from the interchange gate, with Brogan leaving the field at the time.

On his way off the ground Brogan is alleged to have made contact with Newnes.

The Giants are expected to argue Newnes was attempting to block Brogan's departure from the arena.

Newnes suffered mild concussion and was subbed out of the game.

That was foolish on his part.

Oh well, GWS will have another kid that will have to stand up to the plate now.

not that it affects us
but listening to the commentary yesterday and on replay they noted that Brogan was only playing due to limit in their ruck stocks- can't remember if it was form injury or whatever- he was only going to be a coach-and gave up his #10 hence he was wearing #50

speaking of off the ball
did anyone else notice half through the second 1/4 roo's opponent doubled over on the far flank?
is he turning feral in his old age?

I think he was exhausted trying to run with him all day.

These are 5-6 week jobs in the modern era. Like others have said, its all a bit weird as there can't have been any footage and the Fox guys didn't even know why Jack had been sub'd off.

Rough Conduct into a concussion sounds a bit like a shoulder to the head. I wonder how far off the ball it was !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

Gee I hope he hasn't got a broken jaw. If they were running to the bench then it doesn't sound good for Drago.

yeah, but when one of those Fox guys is Bazza that's hardly surprising.

More importantly, a broken jaw sits him out a couple of weeks?

That's annoying, I liked him in the side.

To miss footy for an off the ball play, frustrating.

Silly mega forehead man.

Wasn't Brogan the guy that whacked some opposition supporter at Adelaide Airport a few years ago? Anyone at the game see it? Forumites I mean. The media clearly didn't.

If true - 10 weeks. Hard to imagine a more gutless effort than at the interchange, when a player is least expecting it, from a guy so much bigger. Perhaps some vision will emerge to ameliorate the charge. But if not - 10 weeks.

I remember the headline from that airport incident.

Brogan 1 - Bogan 0

Brogan has always been a violent neanderthal.

Attacked someone at an airport, attacked someone in a park.

If he has broken the kids jaw off the ball, the bogan bastard should be charged with assault.

Deserves to be in the big house, violent aggressive animal
