When you watch a intra club pratice game or read about the performance of players have do the results effect you? For example Tom Lee lines up on Sam Fisher and kicks 8 and marks everthing. Is this a positive as you view that weve picked a young gun or its the end of our best defender and our defence is doomed. Or on the other hand Stanley keeps Roo touchless at CHB or Seb Ross has 35 touches with Joey struggling to hold him and Milne makes Geary look stupid but Newnes is given a bath by Milera.

Do you take positives out of a forward marking everything or look at as our defence struggling. Your thoughts and you no answer is wrong.

the only positive i get out of these games is if the players have a good hard hitout with no injuries !

agree, we know our seasoned players will step it up when the time counts. to see a newer player tear it up is big positive and shows they are set to really press for selection and lift our overall talent level.
no injuries is usually my biggest concern in these games.

As for practice games if a 30 year old struggles on a new guy I wouldnt care at all so if Fisher 8 kicked on him by Lee that would be great for Lee and would mean stuff all for Fisher. Yeah I don't take much from practice matches because some players are going harder than others but you might see something you like.

eg. loved the way Winmar (the real Winmar) took a mark, swivelled in mid-air and landed softly facing the way he wanted to run
Plugger in his first practice match -a fat kid who could take a bloody good mark
Robert Elphinstone - saw his first practice match at Frankston and told my mate next to me that he would never make it and then had his father who I didn't know was standing in front of me tell me I was a d***head. And his father was right!

Yeah, I must admit I'm a big fan, always good to see kids that you might never see again. I liked Alan Murray one year in a practice match, didn't come to much though.
