Some tweets from Shaun of Stkildathunda (thanks Shaun):

Tom Hickey has some strapping on his knee and doesn't look comfortable bending or running.
Tommy Ledger looks like he's trimmed down fair bit. Reckon this could be his year.
Adam Schneider & Sean Dempster not taking part in main training. Just been running laps so far (also doing other bits & pieces)
No sign of Sam Fisher so far. Spencer White is taking part in main training but being bit cautious of his wrist
Well one thing hasn't changed, our skills by foot is still very average
Rhys Stanley IS training with the defenders!!
Arryn Siposs also training with defenders
Jarryn Geary training with midfielders, doing some roving with McEvoy

Schneids had foot or ankle surgery didn't he?

Interesting about Stanley, those rumours that he may go back could be true?

I hope Geary does shift into the midfield, Newnes could play his role from last year....we could do with another hard nut in there who can run all day.

Photos - http://stkildafcviews.wordpress.com/201 ... session-2/#

Credit to thunda again.

Is it just me, or has Schneids managed to make Wilkes look like a spring chicken?

Jimmy is looking good, back to his 2011 form this year...not everyone can recover from a knee like Lenny.

session lasted over 3 hours- much longer than in next to recent years when 1 hour was about max and then a select few signed auographs- most of the players came to the fence.

Most of the guys are just keen for games to start- young and older,
Nick R probably wont play till late NAB ,

Q to Tom H- a few more watching than training at your previous club- An: about 200 more

Lots of kids present- just wanting to see their favourites.
the young players willingly walking the length of the fence or much of it to sign autographs and introduce themselves.

those not present for the majority of the session- that I could find,Markworth- Fisher, Minchington ( did sign autographs and hopes to resume running next week) and maybe Milne.
several of the new young players only did about half before doing light work near the goals,
as previously noted- Dempster and Schneider lots of running- this seems to be annual for them.

not sure the reason or maybe just to confuse new players- but at one point 'Hayes" and "26" were being called-rather than "Lenny' or "Dal' as later in the session. and it seemed like the 2 guys from the AIS actually spoke to the group on field before they dispersed -. empowerment.

PS- lots of traffic on the new Peninsula Link- and later took the drive back toward Melbourne from further down and the Linen House Sign very visible-- maybe alocal who travels that way regularly will be able to say when the boys are out on the track.

My analysis:

Siposs being trained up to play BJs 'quarterback'/utility role.
Gears to step up to midfield (See thread on Geary for more discussion on this)
Schneids worries me of late - very 'old' 28 year old.
Fisher is in Thailand according to Plugger66 - a bit of a worrisome destination for a bloke who doesn't mind a night out...
Hickey hobbling already - I guess that is why we need multiple ruckman on the list.
Stanley in defence has been discussed on this forum and is an intriguing experiment - ill watch with interest.
Frankie Dunell needs to work on his guns.

Not a lot of physicality (shepherding/heavy bumping/tackling) out there this morning, although it was probably part of the plan with so many new faces to get the fluency happening a bit. Didn't see Gilbert out there either, but I got there late.

Stanley is looking like a monster, I hope his hamstrings can carry it all…

Might be a dumb question but… is it a worry that Blake & McEvoy are our fastest over 2KM? Shouldn't it be some of our mids?

Nah, good thing. Big guys will have to run all game.

If there are further changers to the interchange rules this wil only be an advantage going forward.

I would think it is a slight concern - I was also of the opinion Blake should be eased off the list and into the footy dept - but that guy continues to amaze - very impressed he can win that time trial - hope they keep him on the coaching staff when his playing days do finally end
