The Real Draft Order

Post: # 1283375Post ace »

The AFL has released their final draft order
Despite the date, it is actually up to date to the final list lodgement No 2, the last list before the draft.
That means it only includes picks that have been activated by delistings.
https://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle ... fault.aspx

However the AFL now includes rookie upgrades in their order when in fact no other club gets a chance to draft the player concerned.
I have created a draft order that eliminates the rookie upgrades and zone selections.

ROUND ONE
1. Greater Western Sydney
2. Greater Western Sydney
3. Greater Western Sydney
4. Melbourne (GWS compensation - Tom Scully)
5. Western Bulldogs
6. Western Bulldogs (GWS compensation - Callan Ward)
7. Port Adelaide
8. Brisbane Lions
9. Richmond
10. Essendon (father-son selection committed to Joe Daniher)
11. Carlton
12. Greater Western Sydney
13. Gold Coast (Saints' FA compensation - Brendon Goddard, on-traded to Gold Coast)
14. Greater Western Sydney
15. North Melbourne

The AFL shows these picks as rookie upgrades or in the case of 60 for Gold Coast a local zone player selection.
59.* Gold Coast
60.# Gold Coast

74.* Melbourne

Mark my words Sydney will not use picks 80 or 83 on new players, they will limit their senior list to 38.

The effect is that St Kilda's pick 77 will actually be the 72nd player drafted.

Thanks ace. And given the three father-son selections, they'll be the 69th player actually chosen on the day.

And if anyone passes with the intent to pick up a player in the PSD that will come in further.

Is there any strong links already known of clubs to players who will be in the PSD?

I really like where this thread is going. :D

Keep the thoughts coming guys. I can now clearly see our pick 77 effectively ending up as a pick in the mid 50's.

Then... we'll be able to recruit Sam Fisher.

Great work ace. I commend anyone who can make the effort to type out a list of 107 picks
