Have heard this fella's name come up a bit; what can anyone tell us about him? Is he at all likely to last to our picks?
18 yrs old, 194cm and 94kg. Played against men for West Perth.
Kevin Sheehan says: “Strong tall defender who uses his body well in man on man contests. Provides good run from defence, averaging 12 disposals and four marks for WA in the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships. Deceptively quick and agile player for his size who uses the ball well either foot.”
The other question is, if we got him, and he was any good, at his size and weight would we throw him to the wolves immediately (with Dempster and Simpkin on either side to give him some steel)?
Some on Bigfooty have said he is slow but his sprint time at the testing disproves that and should bring him up the draft order. Can't say for sure but he should last till our picks in the 40's. I still think a mature full back should also be picked up.
Picks in the 20's for mids and the 40's for tall defenders.

Completely agree with the mature route in addition to someone like Rodda.
Also gives us the potential to have one at FB and the other at CHB, allowing Chips to roam free. A lot of the phantom drafts have Rodda lasting to the 60s, and while they're hardly scientific in general, some of the stagers who do them watch A LOT of junior footy
Looks good on paper. Read that he doesn't use his weight as much as he should/could. Maybe Maxie can teach him a thing or two about positioning.
If we can get him with our pick in the 40's would be happy.
I agree that we should go for one mature & one young KPD. What picks we use should be decided on the day.
Definately get at least one mid with pick 25/26, but if a highly rated KPD is available, we need to get him.
I'm one talking him up. I saw his game v SA and he chopped off a lot of ball coming in and is a massive unit. He was playing more like a ruckman chopping out across half back and didn't really get to show how he'd go shoulder to shoulder heaps but the size of him says he could develop that into his game. He isn't a fat kid that weighs over either he is gonna be J. Brown size. No way last pick, would be late second round unless someone pays overs to get him. I think he could be a little like Daniel merrett long term, he could at least shove Johnny Patton around for the next 10 years.
