In dinner with Milney -Milne referred to him as future midfielder Tom Curren, I got the sense that they have already let him know he's getting up graded. He's a handy type but would probably ule out the need for Kobe Stevens if we do.

Well done Tommy, pretty sure he is the first of our younger players to make a consistent significant impact in the VFL

Hope he gets a good pre-season and continues to improve

Well, let's see. Usually the reason young players aren't pushing for a spot in the 1sts is because their body isn't AFL ready, or they lack AFL fitness or they are still developing. Curren certainly doesn't lack a mature body and has a good endurance base and yet did you hear him once talked up by the coaches to get a game for the Saints? Was he even an emergency this year? Yet, all year young mids such as Ross, Ledger etc. were emergencies, getting mentioned by the coaches and they even got a few games late. There is a reason Curren wasn't, he just isn't that good. He is a very solid VFL player (he suits the VFL perfectly, see Myles Sewell) and still can potentially become a good AFL player, but he really has to work on his skills.

I'm not writing him off by any means, and I dearly hope he makes it, but I just don't see enough from him to suggest he will be anything more than a fringe player at AFL level.

Well he is a Rookie.

Which means he couldn't be selected in the seniors.

May have had a little bit to do with it.

I'm tipping that the Dunnell twins will be great for our club.

Actually, Villa' is correct, I'm told that the club rates young Sam so highly, that in an AFL first, we are planning to elevate him to the senior list... twice.

You really know that much about the guy?
He was a rookie and couldn't be considered for selection. Maybe they kept him as a rookie for his development.
If he wins a B&F at 20 beating 2 former listed AFL players then I'd say he'd have to have a fair bit of ability. Give the guy a break and some acknowledgement!

His footskills will need quite a bit of improving if he is to make and impact at AFL level

Same size as Joey but plays predominantly inside

I would liken him to Sam Mitchell or Daniel Kerr, without the foot skills

Good to see three Saints rookies in the top five. No idea how we're going to keep all three around at the club, but at least they're performing and making the list managers take notice.

Good work Tom!

Interesting to note Wilkesy got the most Liston trophy votes for Sandringham.
