I will be!

Just heard Pelchen speak and I'm even more concerned.

Hoping Scott sounds more confident.

Pelchen doesn't even know what the compensation is, will be assessed after we've made our moves. Said they may even take that into account in regards to if we even make any moves.

that's because the AFL make the desicion on case by case - we await for AA to put the pin in the list.

For all we know we could be planning on getting someone else from free agency & still get an early pick(albeit a little later on) so before even starts panicking, sit back & watch how things unfold.

I think you're sounding a bit emotional K - take a bex and lie down.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Why?

Scott just said he doesn't know the compensation either, he'd be surprised if it's not a first round.

Club before the individual stuff, I'm not convinced.

I am expressing a POV, I don't need to lie down because it differs to others.

Scott didn't say he didn't know, said he had a fair idea, expected first round.
Sounds like he knows it will be 13.

Ahh that's not what he said at all. He said we would be "astounded" if we didn't get a first round pick. The club has a VERY good idea what's happening....just wait what unfolds by the end of the trade period.

Regardless of what they have or haven't said, they will know what our compensation will be if this is our sole involvement in free agency.

As they have made it clear they will seek to sign free agents, as this would affect our compensation, it is reasonable that they don't know what our ultimate compensation will be.

It is also reasonable that the effect on our compensation would play a part in our decision making when deciding to sign or not sign a free agent.

If footy has taught me anything coaches and clubs know a lot more than they tell the public.

You were maudlin before SainterK, now you are getting a bit overwrought.

Settle down for goodness sake.

The reason they dont know the compensation pick is because in the rules of FA it is decided AFTER the 21 day FA period ends.

This is not a trading period. If the Saints picked up say Troy Chaplin in two weeks, how could the dp be certain.

You are letting your bias control your emotion.

By all means be dissapointed that Goddard took his thirty pieces of silver over the Saints team philosophy, and has left, but to imply unprofessionalism by both Pelchan and Watters is getting just a bit silly.

Lance or James??

This is news to me. It would be absolutely moronic to go after any free agents now considering the lack of quality available. I don't see us throwing money around this year, but rather picking up a few fringe players who suit our needs or kids looking to come back to Vic.

We're clearly after a key defender, it think it's out of Cam Pederson, Luke Delaney or Mitch Brown on a long shot. We'll surely end up with either Caddy or Stevens and Hickey is looking very likely. In 2014 and 2015 I expect we will be throwing money around like crazy to free agents and GC/GWS kids looking to come home with a few years of development already in them.

I think the point for SainterK is that nobody knows what the compensation will be. AFL decides once the trade is done. Of course Pelchen and Watters don't know.

Unless you're a new mod who gets to decide what people think....

Lost a quality player for an unknown DP, regardless of how you choose to word it.

Scott said they would be "astounded" if the club wasn't given pick number 13 as compensation, well if we're waiting for the AFL to decide after the trade is done then standby for a rank decision that will well and truly screw the St Kilda Football Club. I'm not sure the AFL is that clear about the rules themselves and loopholes and backroom deals will destory the whole thing
Some day, one day, this will end up as a Supreme Court action.

Oh dear

So someone cant point out bloody minded ignorance now?

You are infering Pelchan and Watters are unprofessional and "dont even know the compensation the club is getting"

You inference was plain, and it was mischief making and just plain WRONG, because you are the one who doesn't even know the FA rules.

So enough of the victim SainterK. Learn the rules before critisising.

Stop scolding me JB...

I understand perfectly what I said, the club doesn't know what it's compensation is, and Chris said he'd even consider before making any plays in case it adversely affects the compensation

I'm not a victim, and I'm allowed to express my opinion.

Can't and won't talk to you about it anymore, no point.

Watters just stated on AW that the offer from us was well over $500k. He then stated the reason he left was purely money.

It is definately a shame, and it is pretty annoying that the club only have an idea.

They should be able to work out exactly what they will be getting, and then exactly how that would change with any prospective FA on the market.

It has to be a factor in the money we spend offer....

according to the email i got from the club, between the lines anyway, they will not attempt to match the offer.
