Scott Watters at the B & F

Post: # 1262168Post bigred »

Why is there not a thread on his speech? If I missed it, ignore this thread and let it fade into oblivion like most of my threads.......

http://www.saints.com.au/Default.aspx
Top right hand corner you can navigate to it.

My take:
Solid speaker. Very bullish. Quite different to all the pressers, pre and post game plus any other media he has done.

Outgoing players. Nice touch. Always welcome back into the Saints family.

Highlights the NZ experiment and the work of Nettlefold. At least someone likes him. Enormous opportunity.

Salary cap. Very strong about this. "Aggressive" in the market.

Colorado trip not just about the altitude training. More in line about the elite coaching environment etc. 62 peeps going. That aint gonna come cheap.

I liked his speech. Of course, a coach on a three year tenure is always going to be positive about the future when you coach to 9th spot in the first year.
He is a very confident, driven and focused man. I don't know Scott Watters from a bar of soap. I have never even been to an open training he has held.
I have a feeling that they are in for a hell of a preseason which is fair enough.

I also have a feeling that Watters can and will be an uncompromising bastard in his journey.

Can anyone drag next years slogan out of it?

Thoughts?

Judging from his speech he seems very ambitious and is striving to get his players to achieve a premiership. I don't think he'll be sticking around if we go into full rebuild mode. This man has his sights set on a flag.

P.S. what was with the woeful/whimpy music that accompanied the player highlights montage? :?

He set the law down for everyone to see.

"The team is more than the individual and I make no apologies for that. And that is how this club will be from this moment going forward"

Bj if all you want is more money there is the door....

Very driven and ambitious and realises that the road ahead will be tough but isn't afraid to aim high and expect more.
Looking forward to 2013!

Agreed. Looks like a first year player who hasn't learnt to dress yet. Have seen him like that before. Small thing some would say.....

He told one young player that he was going to make him "Cry" in Colorado.

He is bullish in player development and trying to infuse a better work ethic into those who need it.

"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

Finally - Its all about Lenny!
