Small Forward Line(Troubles Cats)

Post: # 1251426Post murray 66 »

If Roo misses i think we should play a small Forward set up against the Cats.In the past teams like Carlton have troubled the Cats because Geelongs backs all like to kill the ball when it is in the air leaving endless crumbing opportunities for our saads.milnes,shneiders,mileras.
If we can execute our skills by hitting up our smalls on the lead making lonergan,Taylor, enright follow them to the ball,we can kick a big score.
Make them accountable and don't allow them to peel off and we will trouble them.

Go saints......................

Good post - tend to agree that the small forwards (and mids) are keys

I also think McEvoy has a huge chance to show some dominance this game.. Cats ruck division is tamer than many

Must make a good start

Hunt is underdone, and I'm struggling to think of anyone else would go with Milne, Saad, Schneider....perhaps Enright?

Similarly though, I hope Gears is OK, only walked at training....will need him and Gram to do a job on Christenssen/Motlop.

You would think milera is close to a recall with four goals last week. Key is to lower the eyes against the cats.

I say we bring back the rat pack, we'll play all of: Milne, Saad, Schneider, Milera, and Cripps.
Marking targets are: Kosi, Wilkes, Siposs.

I'd also like to see Blake come in as a mobile ruckman at the expense of McEvoy who doesn't offer much in terms of hit outs to advantage or competing at ground level.
Dunell has had a taste of the action and will be better for the run. Should get a big pre-season under his belt. Back to the VFL for now.
Cripps stays in ahead of Ledger based on his goal kicking knack.

IN: Siposs, Blake, Schneider, Milera
OUT: Riewoldt (inj), McEvoy, Dunell, Ledger

Three out of four are spot on there, but dropping McEvoy would be senseless. He is our ONLY decent ruckman and our best contested mark. We will need him to drop back in front of Hawkins. He should dominate the hit outs against Geelong. And to suggest he doesn't compete at ground level is miles off the mark. He is the only ruckman in the comp to be inside his clubs top 10 tacklers. Blake is a great gap filler, but he ain't the answer in games like this.

"Lower the eyes" ... I'd never heard that before this year -- now everyone's using it.

A few other small forwards which might cause problems are Chapman, Stokes, Christiansen & Motlop, especially if Geary doesn't come up. Johnson seems to go okay too & Duncan knows where the goals are. Stopping the supply will be the main thing for both sides, we need our mids to tear it apart, all of them.

i like the mosquito fleet idea .

although ben's form worries me sometimes - the guy is an absolute lock in our 22.

out: Riewoldt (inj.) Ledger, Dunell, Saad
in: Schneider, Milera, Newnes, Siposs
