8 goals to 4?

Post: # 1250113Post Darren »

I've obviously missed the entire game due to work but why in the world did we let them kick 8 goals in the last?

Pretty pathetic. We should have belted them by 20 goals. Not many positives from todays performance.

We played 20 minutes of football in the 3rd quarter. That's about it.

It's a good thing the 4 points is all we need.

But it's hardly the momentum we require going into an important game against Geelong when for the second time this year we limped over the line against the all-conquering Demons.

not sure "momentum" is all it's cracked up to be. if anything, it only comes into play in the first five minutes. i'd rather the boys have a bit of a rest rather than going all out and picking up more niggles.

Wasn't even Melbourne's best team, so regardless of what's happening next week, there's no excuse for a shocking last quarter against rabble and too many senior players took it too easy.

Well we lost the most dominant player (our captain) on the ground in the first quarter…
We worked very hard to put them away in the third, ran out of juice…
I'm just happy we won, remember last time there was 3 points separating us in the last quarter.
For whatever reason we don't smash Melbourne like we do the other poor sides.

I saw Watters interview going off the ground after the match, and he was trying to smile through clenched teeth- I think he was probably going to rip shreds off the team.

Thing is, we can't be too complacent about our superior percentage. The Dockers can make up the difference with a couple of beltings, just as we did when we needed about 8% in the final match of 2008 against Essendon.

I'm happy we've won too. Unforunately I need to finish this homework off before I'm able to watch any of the game. :(

Did what they had to do.

It's about 4 points now, not percentage.

I watched them play one quarter practically, and that was all that was neccessary. Never fault like Demons were in it, just was a matter of when the Saints decided to put it away.

On a side note, I reckon Melbourne got about 5-6 frees in the last at the centre square, which helps close the margin.

Happy the 4 points are banked. The way they sung the song tells me the focus has turned very quickly to the Cats this Friday.

Yeah so much for our frees I banked on this week. Scotty might not have been subtle enough in his criticism.

I reckon that was a bit of a heavy ground today. What else could explain the slowness of our players?

Played in the 3 rd qtr and switched off in the last............tough for a variety of reasons to get up for this game, but they did what they needed to....the Cats will be more telling

Bloody hell, I saw a lot of Melbourne goals in front of me in the last quarter, but didn't realise they kicked 8. That's rather disappointing.

Our percentage is the least of our problems. We have all teams covered above us who we can replace.
