It's just about finding that consistency," he said.

"We had a good win over Essendon and we ground out a win against Brisbane. And we had our chances against Sydney.

"We are playing some exciting footy and when we do gel, we are more than capable of beating the good sides."

Fisher said he was enjoying nurturing fresh faces in St Kilda's team, including full-back Tom Simpkin.

That nurturing has extended to Fisher helping part-time with the Sandringham Dragons in the TAC Cup this year.

it does seem we are firing up the scoreboard, but our defence is leaking like a sieve.

He has done a pretty good job the last 2 weeks without being noticed by our supporters.

The problem is Sam has become a key defender the last few weeks taking on the power forward (jonathon brown, etc)because we lack key position players, so we lose his ability to play the loose rebounding defender.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

SOME supporters called for this...

The loss of his rebound has made little difference... Although you can still rebound and work off a man

Offense is not a problem...

I don't think it's entirely the defences fault, the defence doesn't seem as strong in the middle these days?

Defence and offence are not mutually exclusive IMO....sam is a great user of the ball and because he stands the big forward he doesn't have the loose man role where he gets involved in more team defence. This is where again IMO we get found out where defenders are isolated 1 on 1.

He gets way more possession in the loose man role, I'd argue that this does make a difference to the way we rebound andset up forward forays.

Well some of us noticed

Prior to the change we were getting monstered by the big forwards. Now Sam was out injured some of these games, but it is clear that he is our only GOOD option to take the oppositions best big forward if they are good.

In addition it is not so much of a loss trying to get hi loose as the opposition these days if they are switched on man him up and do not allow him loose.

So playing Sam as our 2012 FB is a double win.
