Dunell to be promoted?

Post: # 1238456Post White Winmar »

A mate just picked up a rumour on twitter about Sam Dunell being promoted to the senior list and that he will be making his debut against the Brions this week. Can anyone confirm? Come on you insiders, hop to it!

I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

Have heard something similar. For those wondering has averaged 15 disposals, 5.75 marks, 1.92 tackles & 1.08 goals this year

Some interesting hypotheticals here. If this were to happen...
  • Would Sam just be promoted, or would the club put either Neil or Rhys in cotton wool for the year via the LTI list?
The latter would be less stressful to the salary cap(???)

I've posted before my expectation that Sam will eventually become not just a good player, but a match winning player. However, another preseason in the gym before unleashing him next year (outwardly) would appear the best course.
What do our SS insiders know, has he bulked up a bit, is he ready yet???

The on baller from Lorne is the man to be replaced...
If Sam was upgraded, what would that say about the immediate future of Little Lenny... purple daze time???
...in the words of WW, "Come on you insiders, hop to it!" Ta.

It's Dave, man. Will you open up? I got the stuff with me! -------Who?
Dave, man. Open up ------------------------------------------ -----Dave???
Yeah, Dave. ---------------------------------------------------------Dave's not here.

Think he's been promoted because they want him to play this week; pure & simple.

I'll leave it to you to delve into all that other stuff Dave

Congratulations to Sam for a well deserved promotion and expected debut against the Lions.

From the VFL games I've seen on TV this year, he has oozed class well above the rest, and I think it's timely that he gets a little taste of AFL action this year, and this will make him more motivated and determined over the pre-season to build his frame and continue his improvement.

It seems like Watters is really keen on having players that can play in multiple positions on the ground, such as Sam who looks like he could play on a half back flank, half forward flank, or a wing.

I reckon both Sam Dunell and Siposs will form a really good combination running amok on the wings for the next decade.
They are both tall, fast, excellent marks, can snag a goal, and seem to be smart footballers.

Just posted, then read your post Doc. Thanks for the link. :)

I read it as Sam is upgraded without anyone going onto the LTI list(???)

I guess the club must think he's ready, so that's really exciting. :D
(Read it and weep Effndumb! And Seb will be soon too. Oh, and thanks also for promising Tipper a senior list spot but then never following through... )

Yep thats correct (via Patrick Keane)
St Kilda have promoted Sam Dunell to senior list via mid-season rookie rule, which allows a rookie to be upgraded, if TPP allows it

Good news. From the little bit I've seen on TV, he looks like a player with a bit of X-factor about him. I'm not really expecting an instant impact though.

Great news - sounds like he deserves it!
Dave Mac - I dont think we need to put anyone on LTI for a promotion as there is a round 12 AFL rookie promotion rule (assuming you have a list place which we do).
p.s If he does play (in place of Jack) - Tommy Ledger might just spit the dummy and head back to Freo.

dont feel sorry for curren. he is a certainty to be elevated at the end of the year.

the bloke is a prime example of how we want our new draftees to approach their intro to afl. bloke leaves no stone unturned.

This, if CJ and steven were missing curren would get the call up. Curren will play lots of football for us and both look exciting. The thing with sam is that he is 23 and is in that age bracket which we need.

Congrats Sam, also really looking forward to Tom Curren

As for Ledger, I think he's playing injured isn't he? Either way, its a tough side to break into. Just keep at it, improve and perform and they'll have no choice but to select you :)

He actually barracked for the Eagles, Rossy Lyon would have to pay well to get him to freo

Funnily enough they recruited a Ledger clone at the end of last year (Lachie Neale) who has played quite a few games this year

I've never seen him play. Heard good things about him though. Can anyone shed some light on what type of player you'd compare him too?
