Train Alert 7 July

Post: # 1236062Post ozrulestrace »

Metro trains should be paying me a bonus for passing this information on each week, or least provide me with a years free travel on my Myki :D

Here we go

Pakenham, Cranbourne, Frankston & Sandringham Lines Saturday 7 July & Sunday 8 July No City Loop services (which means direct to Flinders Street)
Glen Waverley Line Saturday 7 July - Sunday 22 July (www.metlinkmelbourne.com.au or metrotrains.com.au for further details)

As to trains Cranbourne/Pakenham/Sandringham/Frankston trains from Southern Cross to Flinders Street, it's not clear if they will stop at Southern Cross and then travel onto
Flinders Street or if we have to hop onto Belgrave/Lilydale/Glen Waverley to Richmond and then change. If so, it's going to be chaos on Platforms 9 & 10.

If anyone can decipher the Metro trains messagse re this, feel free to post.

The Sandy trains last week didn't run through the loop - no explanation given

It's the exact same reason the Pakenham/Cranbourne/Frankston trains didn't.

Only last week they didn't mention the Frankston line in their announcements, you just had to know how they system is laid out to realise that it would be the same.

All trains that use South Yarra use the same tracks through the loop. So anything that stops one of them using the loop stops all of them.

Bloody ridiculous to be doing this s*** during the footy season though especailly on the Caulfield Group lines.

I did check the poster at Murrumbeena this morning and recently posted on their website and I'm not that confident in their instructions.

It goes along the lines of from Southern Cross-"Frankston/Pakenham/Sandringham" travel on any train direct to Flinders Street and change or catch Belgrave, Lilydale or Glen Waverley and change at Richmond which leave me pretty certain any train I try and catch will end up heading towards North Melbourne.

Let's hope Metro has enough staff with clear instructions as to which platform we should head for.
