While Heddie is declaring war on everyone, we might as well give him a reason. Ben Reid appears to be the 3rd banana Tall Defender at Collingwood behind Brown & Tarrant. What would it cost to prize him away from Collingwood. Scott Watters & Max Hudghton would know him and his capabilities !!

Would be an ideal get and is exactly what we desperately need... He is very young, but has a broad frame and plays key defense, and will grow into a real monster fb/chb... Our taller guys are all flanking types who will not be able to play on the real power forwards...

However, we are no chance with our $'s issue... He would be a 350-400k pa player IMO, and we'd be lucky to offer half that as a guess...

Not ever going to leave Collingwood, Tarrant is just about shot and Reid is a premiership player? Can anyone remember the last time another club managed to prize one away the the scum? No, that's because it doesn't happen. The only players that leave the scum are ones they deem dispensible. Not sure Reid fits into that category. We need to go to the draft and find a Talia (Adelaide) type player who will be our long term solution.

With our current cap situation we're better off trying to lure gems like Maric/Grigg/Houli at Richmond or Mumford/McGlynn/Kennedy at Sydney.

Mitch Brown can't seem to get a consistent game at West Coast. He might be one we could go after. Stephen Gilham is 27 but on the outer at Hawthorn. Could be lured perhaps?

It must be great when a club doesn't have to operate under the constraints of a salary cap.

They can just keep EVERYONE for as long as they like.

They are definately CHEATING the salary cap, however when the players relatives get "given" houses by sponsors, how are the AFL supposed to find that.

They don't need to worry about losing anyone.

You'll see, cloke won't go anywhere, they are just in the process of working out which "relative" is going to get the 3 bedder in Port Melbourne.

Or which type of ambassadorial role Beams or Sidebottom can play.

When you have masses of members and sponsors, you don't have TOO many issues.

He'd obviously be great for us but contrary to what everyone is saying, he actually isn't exactly what we need. He isn't a stopper of the dominant key forwards, he takes the second tall and works of him to help out Brown or Tarrant. Brown would actually be more suited or us than Reid. We're obviously not going to get either though.
