Stephen Hill for Brendon Goddard

Post: # 1223233Post dcstkfc »

A caller on SEN last night suggested that this trade is being discussed.

I don't like dealing with innuendo usually, but more asking, would you want this to occur?

Fair trade... + their first rounder...

I'd prefer the Clint Jones for Nate Fyfe deal I've heard around the traps...

pretty sure its over the line...

Don't mind it… but…
Can't see any club trading away a very good player for someone they can pick up for free (if the cap fits) via free agency?

its a bulls*** rumor. hills contract is heavily back ended. theres no way we can afford him. if freo pay out his contract and offer us their first rounder and their second rounder as well then the answer would be yes.

problem is i dont rate hill. he's an outside player who crumbles under a tag. freo have paid overs for him.

Hill is soft .. Big front runner go's missing when it gets tough ... Maybe Silvagni Griffin and a draft pick for Goddard and a later pick .. Even then I say no

Never would I so that trade - Goddard for an outside type like Hill - if the Docker want Goddard, they have to give up Fyfe,
or Barlow + their 1st Rnd DP

And that's only if he wants to go west.....why not keep Goddard and let Hill downhill ski (mostly) for the Docker.

Goddard is probably our most losable superstar with trade value so if we want something for him we may need to look at something like this. Hill is a good player and I would be pretty happy to have him. If it was a choice between nothing and Hill that would be pretty acceptable considering he might just walk out and leave us for GWS. Hill wouldn't be on as much as Goddard anyway.

Sam Gilbert for Sam Reid - strong rumour. They'll also give us their first round pick and a set of steak knives. The rumour is that it will blunt the opposition attack and cut them to pieces at the same time.

When he is asked by the coaches to play the running HB role, that's what he does, however when he is on the ball, he is very hard at the footy and the man. That's what I saw at ES on Sat and many other times as well.

Of Goddard's 25 poss on Saturday - 11 were contested + 3 tackles.....

Fact or fiction But sloppy journalism by any standard

http://www.sportsnewsfirst.com.au/artic ... tly-speed/
A restricted free agent can move to a club of his choice if a contractual offer cannot be match by his existing club, while an unrestricted player can move to a new employer without any limitations in the crossover.

The brilliant Goddard is a restricted agent, while Montagna will be completely free to move to a club of his choice after his unbroken decade of Saints service.

Fiery veteran small forward Stephen Milne, powerhouse big man Justin Koschitzke, defender Jason Blake, James Gwilt, Raphael Clarke, Montagna and popular champion Lenny Hayes are Saints heading for unrestricted free agent status at the end of the season.

Goddard and tough defenders Sam Fisher and Jason Gram are unrestricted in any movement if they want to leave the Saints.
fact Montagna said he's going No where
Fisher has already resigned
Dal santo doesn't come out of contract till 2013

and
President
CEO
and head of football
head of football Player management

have ALL said the difficulties were addressed last year ......

maybe sportsnewsfirst better check with more player agents before believing the few that are their sources.

I reckon Goddard will re-sign if offered a similar deal to his current contact. It'll be in St Kilda's court to come up with that same deal.

If Goddard were to go I'd expect St Kilda to cash in for draft picks. The only reason why he will leave is if the Saints want to free up salary cap space for one reason or another. No player for player/s deal will happen IMO.

Very poor rumour.

The whole reason Dockers went for Hill over Rich was that he is better suited to the bigger ground that is Subi.

Can't see them giving him up at all.

Anyways, Goddard isn't going anywhere.

Silvagni isn't bad .. Seen a fair bit of him in the WAFL .. Ross doesn't rate him hence why he's on the outer I reckon at years end Silvagni will be out of the purple ... Hill is an over payed dud !! He is the poor mans Cyril but then again Freo is full of the poor man versions .. Hill the poor mans Cyril- Pav the poor mans buddy- Zac Clarke the poor mans Nic Nat - muzungu the poor mans HarryO ... The list go's on

after 30 saints can count these players in their veterans list. Can top up their wages a fair bit.

Freo have already broken the salary cap twice since their inception...

Its all changed now. Only 100k comes off the salary cap after 10 years. I dont think the age has anything to do with it anymore.

ah, cool, thanks p66.

still, freo would be battling salary cap issues of their own.

If goddard was to go, it would be for a smashing deal in the million plus range and they'd be hard pressed to match that anywhere by GCS or GWS

Griffin would be great for us ... (obviously not for Godard ) the bloke is itching to get a regular gig but Ross is he'll bent on turning him into a defender not a ruck .. Playing in the ruck in the WAFL he is going great
