midfield depth.

Post: # 1222489Post Dan Warna »

Is on the rise again.
One of the strengths of st kilda in the start of the last decade was the old guard of Burke, thompson and harvey, complimented by the dal santo, montagna, ball and co.
Now we have lenny, dal, monty and shneider, complimented by stevens, milera, armitage saad.

I think we are getting it right.

We need about 10 running players in the team, Gram, fisher, polo offer outside run as well, and goddard has the midfield busting passes.

Kosi and roo need to stand a little taller in my opinion, maybe choose kosi in the goal square and let roo run. OR switch kosi and roo in the goal square and give goddard CHF.

We are certainly playing more attractive football, and I think this is coming from a more aggressive midfield that is focussing more on attacking than defencive play.

Even clint jones runs a bit.

I think a missing link from the midfield is mini. We need one more hard nut in the middle to perform the stephen powell/luke ball/nathan burke role.

We also have Seb Ross, Tom Ledger, a few other young ones who in time, will keep the older ones on their toes. I particularly like Tom Curren. He looks a goer.

midfield looked good last night but I was dissapointed there was so much space left unmanned. maybe we could redraft R Eddy. We would need to better the contract he got with Coles where he helps people fnd parking spaces.

Newnes..... Flanker, wingman.... Like Farren Ray, Jason Gram.... Seems a good around player

Webster...... Taller HB wingman.... Good user of the ball, moves well...

good news. i'd love to see some more kids step up. especially with the middle tier now showing something (i.e. milera, saad, stanley, geary, steven, armo).

Once we can add Schneider to this years rotations we will have quite a potent mix.

Moresp when Stanley returns as with him being a fast breaking player he has become a great link for the midfield to get the ball out to.

Sen Ross is starting to show signs that he could develop into a very solid mid for us.... Next year and beyond that is.

With ledger , cuurren and others there is sold good talent to work with. Some of them are on the skinny side and so need to get some meat on their bones which may take a year or two.

Steven has stepped up this year and basically is a star now.

Armo while still inconsistent.... Is consistently much better and has had several top 3 games this year now.

Milera will improve a lot more IMO . Another preseason and a years worth of games will see him develop I believe either a star player or inconsistent match winner. His attitude and workrate will determine which as he has all the natural tools.

Backline we need a true tall.... Hopefully ferg can step up next year.

This them frees fisher up. Without that extra tall back fisher becomes too much the stopper and we lose his ability to support the midfield.

Haven't actually seen Curren play yet - is he an armo type?

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

No, he isn't.

Curran is more like Joey, Jack Steven type

Small, pacy, clearance midfielder/small fwd. very tough.
