Umpires won gain
Cats were robbed by a weak 50m free in front of goal in a crucial part of the game. When will close games be decided by the players? Also, I'm tired of Collingwood fans booing at the opposition whenever they line up for goal or get a free kick.
Decided last year that I will never go to a Saints Collingwood game again. Awful atmosphere.

Re: Umpires won gain
The umpire didn't cost the cats the game. The 50mt penalty was there. The cats kicking cost them 5.12 in the second half.
Happiness is a warm pie!

Re: Umpires won gain
Disagree with that. If anything josh hunt can be blamed for tackling him. Why take the risk, even late in the game.
But I do agree with your point about Collingwood supporters booing every opposition shot at goal. Absolutely disgusting sportsmanship.
Geelong played like absolute crap tonight. Made many turnovers. It was like watching us play three weeks ago.

Was a 50m penalty every day of the week. Also had Swan not got injured Cats would not have got as close as they did. Overall I was just pleased it wasn't a draw, which would have been the worst result for us.
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...

Re: Umpires won gain
That was not the moment, had the ball in the forward half for most of the last quarter but couldn't kick a goal.
Stokes was immense, but nobody else looked like it.
Really makes you feel that footy is lending itself to smalls buzzing around to clean up....

Couldn't buy an inside 50 mark in that last 10 minutes, plenty of opportunities

Tom Hawkins is a total dud.
Cannot kick a pressure goal.
Dropped a chest mark in the goal square in the final minutes.

Quite a typical softcock attitude that permeates through many Saints fans unfortunately.Calais wrote:Bayside Nick wrote:Cats were robbed by a weak 50m free in front of goal in a crucial part of the game. Therein lies some of the reason for very poor turnouts at games by our fans, but still very impressive TV ratings for our games!

Re: Umpires won gain
The 50 was technically there. The massive issue is that ,would the 50 have been paid to us in the same situation? The answer is NO only a couple of weeks ago we saw BJ mark fifty out with a minute or so to go and the Freo player actually ran over and tackled him to the ground. No penalty and no goal to the Saints and we lose.

Wish we had a dud like that in our 2 GF's. At least you made an opinion after only one game. Next time make it a quarter of footy to really work out a player. What do stats say about duds in games. Anyway Geelong or the Pies cant win the flag this year because you only win it every 18 years.

It was more than technically there it was there and it would have been paid to any side if that umpire was umpiring in the same situation.

So the Goddard one that cost us the game was a mistake then.plugger66 wrote:CURLY wrote:The 50 was technically there. Yes just like when we kick points or have clangers or give away frees that are correct decisions.

Re: Umpires won gain
Matthew Scarlett didn't play.
On the 50, it is a bit hard to tell from the video. If Hunt grabbed with his hands, then it was 50. If he used his arms, then it was not, as he did not go over the mark. The umpire seemed to be in a position to tell.

Here's an interesting article that says Fasolo admitted he milked it and was going to play on. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/ ... fault.aspx
The penalty ruined the spectacle of a tight and thrilling finish. Let the players play I say.

It doesnt matter what he was going to do it was 50 every day of the week and has to be paid otherwise every player would hold players up after a mark.
Re: Umpires won gain
Like the Hunt 50 was 'the moment' anyhow.
They kept showing him on camera.
In the review, I'd be highlighting the many missed shots.

Re: Umpires won gain
when decisions like this are made at the end of a game they are always highlighted !
Cats lost cos they missed their chances .
pies were the better team all night and deserved to win
Pies supporters are cavedwellers , but that should be a reason to go , to show that man has evolved .

Dont forget the sewers... According to the late, great Captain Blood, they come out of the sewers to watch Collingwood play.mr six o'clock wrote:Pies supporters are cavedwellers , but that should be a reason to go , to show that man has evolved .
But I don't actually hate them. We shouldn't be too harsh. Yes there are negatives, but they have also made positive contributions to humanity... Not only the toothbrush, but the wheelbarrow...
Little known but true fact..., the wheelbarrow was originally developed as an aid to help Collingwood supporters learn to walk on their hind legs...

Re: Umpires won gain
I didn't watch the game but was told by a collingwood supporter it was soft. If they play the same rules for everyone there isn't a problem. Stanley got 50 against him right in front of me in the hawks game and the umpire told him to step back then blew the whistle while he was looking at his feet stepping back. Just over zealous and extreme not necessary and not the spirit of the game.
