An amazing game of footy took place today. Zebs up by 40 odd at qtr time, Werribee it back to couple at half time, Zebs kicked out to 45 point 3 qtr time lead and Werribee win by 2 points.

Adam Cockie is a gun, 30 touches.

Tom Curren was best of Saints with 24 and couple goals

Minchinton kicked 4, well Club is saying 2 but we swear it's 4.

Dunnell is a beautiful kick, kicked 2 goals aswell. Think Siposs kicking and thats nearly him!

Hampshire Shephard is nice recruit for Zebs. Did nice things.

Chris Irving was one Zebs listed players.

Seb Ross was awesome til injury, Raph was good til his day ended. Lever & Webster both injured aswell.

Bit more on Ross, he copped nasty knock to knee. Was worked on for rest 2nd qtr and them
Reappeared after half time all iced up and took no more part. Then walked past near end of game and looked fine. Just corkie I'd say

At start we thought it was. Spent bout 10 mins each time be came to bench. But near half time be walked off and went to rooms. Looked alright but one coaches asked if he was alright & he said something and didn't sound happy. But when he was leaving it didn't look like anything was wrong.

Keep your eyes on young Markworth - he will be a player. Has the ability to dodge and weave out of trouble and he wins the footy - sometimes easily. He did some brilliant stuff today. Sam Dunnell is another beautiful kick of the footy - very much like Siposs.
Tom Curren played a blinder today well done to him. Seb Ross is fine - just a mild corkie, he was the BOG up to half time. Raph felt some tightness and went as a safeguard - was playing very well indeed up to that point.

Adam Cockie was the BOG by a mile - what a player he is. Wore number 46 for the Zebs - who is this guy???

Cockie was previously on West Coast's rookie list and then was promoted and played 4 games (in 2009) for them, until he was put back on the rookie list when Shuey returned from injury. Was de-listed at the end of that season and played for Subiaco last year, where he had prevously been playing. 22yo, 182cm, 85kg, according to Wikipedia.

Ex WCE/Subi player..coached by Scott Watters. Lured east by all the WA connection at the Club. Played a few games for WCE in 2009 coming off the rookie list

There was a write-up in the local papaer about him this week. Sandy genuinely stoked to get him.

Speaking with one of the old trainers today - said that Adam Cockie is very keen to play for StKilda - was'nt sure of the connection so thanks guys.

Thanks for reports one and all.
This from thewest.com.au on 24 Feb -
"Former West Coast midfielder Adam Cockie has left Subiaco for St Kilda's VFL affiliate, Sandringham.
The 22-year-old is hoping to revive his AFL career close to his former WAFL coach, now Saints coach Scott Watters.
Subiaco football manager Luke Sanders said the club was very disappointed to lose a premiership player."

Or taken by some other club before we can get him , if at years end he proves worthy of a shot at AFL

Six debutants for the Saints so far in Season 2024. :D

Pretty sure he was always only going to play a half. Praised by coach at quarter time for his hard work.

Seb Ross didn't get that much of it, but when he did he was all class. This kid will be a gun. Would have loved to see him play more than a half. Pretty sure he was taken off as a precaution, only a practise game.

Seb Ross copped big corky to his left knee. Had to get worked on for nearly half qtr. appeared after half time knee on ice. Even in real match was no way he was playing second half.

I saw the physios working on his knee at the end of the second quarter, so I accept your point. I would still like to have seen more of him. He is a class act.

Markworth's athleticism is immense. He had this move in the forward pocket where he snaffled the ball and then side-stepped one or two players whilst holding the ball one-handed. He's very raw but he has massive upside.

Dunnell was very good. He's a really good size to be a medium forward.

Everything's on ferguson to develop into a CHB. If he doesn't work out then we need to turn someone else a bit older into a CHB

Big worry is roo is 30-31??? cHF take a minimum for 3 years to develop, do we have anyone???

Ferg has only just turned 19. So I still think he has 2 years (2 full seasons) left at the saints before we judge him.

Finding a replacement for roo - dont even go there. Too scary to contemplate.

Free agency? Clubs now have the opportunity to "buy" someone who is "ready made", so that gives us some different options to what we would have had before FA came in.
