Placing a premium on disposal I see

Think we shuold wait until the NAB cup to put forward names of players most of us know little about.

Not even the Saints coaches have any idea who will be starting round 1 next year?

What is the point of threads like this so far out?

nah, this looks a solid team to me:

FB Simpkin, Wilkes (c), Newnes
HB Webster, Lever, Ferguson
C Andreoli, Curren, Milera
HF Dunell, Staley, Markworth
FF Minchington, Saad, Shenton
R Archer, Ross, Crocker
IC Ledger, Winmar, Cripps
SUB Hayes

massive experience in the backline with wilkes holding the side together from fullback as captain, simpkin supporting him. the midfield is dynamic and pacy - and it's evenly spread - who do you tag? and the forward line presents all sorts of problems for the opposition. not a tall set of six but there's some marking power there and undeniable goalkicking ability.

and the sub can play a bit as well.

Most balanced side of youth and experience I have seen for a while. The only change would be Peake for Stanley.

Likely picked;
Dempster
Roo
Goddard
Hayes
Dal Santo
Montagna
Fisher
Gilbert
Gwilt (when fit)
Milne
Schnieder
Steven
Armitage
McEvoy
Kosi
Gram
Jones

Will be knocking on the door;
Saad
Simpkin
Stanley
Ledger
Cripps
Wilkes
Siposs
Milera

Underpressure to retain their spot;
Geary
Clarke
Blake
Peake
Ray
Polo

A bit away;
Winmar
Ross
Newnes
Webster
Lever
Markworth
Crocker

At a guess, Saad and Simpkin to play most games. Stanley to be given every opportunity. Siposs, Cripps and Ledger to play 10 or so games. Wilkes and Milera backup players (at the stage).

I think blokes with poor disposal and lack awareness ie Polo, Peake, Blake, Geary and Clarke are on the chopping block. Ray probably the least likely to play for Sandy.

It looks like status quo except:
- simpkin or Wilkes to FB
- BJ to midfield
- Saad to fwd flank or pocket

Ray Clarke Gram Blake Polo Geary may make way for youngsters

I'd rather we played 2 of our young quick medium sized half forward flankers /prospects than a forward line which contains 3 smalls - Schneider, Saad and Milne - that's half the forward line as small players.

3 smalls ... won't work !

1 small forward is fine,

We need medium sized forwards in there .. for balance... play the kids !

Gwilt to start the season on the longterm injury list. Which rookie is upgraded? Archer seems the most likely however Ferg may get a go.

Surely it how you play not the size. Id rather schneider and Milne forward than Siposs and and another medium if those mediums arent getting a kick.

I like dcstkfc side. One or two changes from this year. No point in going for 5 new guys straight away. We need a good start so if the experienced guys are in reasonable form then they get a go before to many young guys.

It's hard to make a call on the likes of Wilkes, Saad and some of the youngsters until we've seen them in the pre season games. The rate of development will determine if Siposs, Cripps, Ledger, Stanley and Crocker will be the main factor in whether they're playing next year. It'd be a nice surprise if Winmar shows some early form as well. Simpkin will need to have shown some improvement as well to earn a senior gig.

B: Ray, Wilkes, Dempster/Gwilt
HB: Goddard, Fisher, Gilbert
C: Peake, Hayes, Montagna
HF: Schneider, Riewoldt, Dal Santo
F: Milne, Koschitzke, Steven

FOLL: McEvoy, Armitage, Jones
Int From: Stanley, Gram, Clarke, Simpkin, Blake, Ledger, Saad, Ross

(Hoping Seb Ross does a Selwood/Fyfe/Heppell/Gaff. And Curren maybe an outsider to step up  )
So hard to call this early. esp on the new recruits...good thread though

Not bad, I'd go...
Cripps for Ledger as sub.
Ray on bench instead of Polo.
Siposs in fwdline for Schnieds who replaces Gram off half back.
Wilkes to potentially take spot of Head or Blake depending on preseason.

Will be good at selection table as noone will be gifted games this year and we could very well see our bottom 6 replaced or be forced to improve.

Why the CJ hate, his kicking is a weakness agreed, but he is top 5 in the league imo at what he does. He has done a number on so many stars over the years his role is so important I can see him playing every game next year.

Where does Stanley sit? Is fwd/ruck his only possie? Does anyone think we can play Mac, Kos and Rhys? I would love to see Rhys take it up to them as he could be anything...
