"The Queen’s Birthday clash between St Kilda and Collingwood in 1978 drew a bumper crowd of 72,669 and at least one dog to VFL Park. We know there was a dog because a nondescript black canine made its way on to the ground during the second half. The intruder caught the attention of Saints defender Doug Booth, who tried to kick the dog back into the stands. Being the no-frills defender he was, Booth wasn’t the most reliable kick and unsurprisingly he missed making contact but his attempt was enough to convince the interloper to beat a hasty retreat. The attempted kick predictably drew the ire of animal welfare."

That 1978 clip shows how good George Young was....Malarkey was no mug. And Roo could learn a thing or two about his kicking style, and the careful deliberate way he dropped the ball on to his foot.
We had a bloke from Beaufort - Gary Lofts - came down as a Full Back - he was a beautiful kick. Was to short height wise to hold it down and ended up going forward and kicked a heap of points that day. Would have won if he had of kicked straight.
Anyway I thought it was down at Geelong.

BTW. The game was definitely against Collingwood. I knew a lot of Pies fans in those days and they tended to know two Saints players. Trevor Barker and that bloke who kicked the dog at Waverley.

I'll bet he didn't kick them!
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!
