Cats show the Saints the Way
Cats have shown that it is the players and not the coach. We don't need Lyon, we still have the players to do the job.

Saints and Cats were the new kids on the block back in 2004 and we always looked the team with the better prospects. Even in 2009 we looked the better side.
So maybe you are right but a toe poke here and a little bit of luck we could have been them now!

Do we? In reality we're 8 to 10 short.saints66 wrote:Cats have shown that it is the players and not the coach. We don't need Lyon, we still have the players to do the job.

We need to take a bit of the West Coast book as well. Out of nowhere about half a dozen of the young players become stars (or on their way to becoming stars).Moorabbin Man wrote:Do we? I think it is the brave but it didnt favour Zac Dawson in 2009.AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:Who does "fortune" favour?saints66 wrote:hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

a fantastic play but didn't go our way. Kosi, Mini, Milne all free going the other way. Probably would have stuffed it up anyway.plugger66 wrote:I think it is the brave but it didnt favour Zac Dawson in 2009.AnythingsPossibleSaints wrote:Who does "fortune" favour?saints66 wrote:hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

More to do with Ball, Clarkes, Maguire, Penny, Brooks, Watt etc falling by the wayside combined with pathetic recruiting choices.saints66 wrote:hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

The more you know, the more you know you don't know.
When I was a young child, I knew that I knew so much about so much.
Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

We smashed them in 2006 too and then they zoomed past us - aided by recruiting one J Selwood - while we sacked our coach and had to sit out two years while our players learnt a new style.BigMart wrote:In 2004 we smashed geelong in the wizard cup and early in 2004
We were still better in 2005.....we both fell to pieces after.....
Then we were left in their wake
We learnt the new style and showed in 2009 and 2010 that we were at least as good as the Cats. But we choked a bit and were a bit unlucky in 2009. And in 2010 the Pies were clearly better than us, but choked in GF- and deservedly won in GF2.
If Lenny and Gwilt can come back, we're not far away IMO.

Lets not forget that as well as Geelong losing Thompson at the end of last year they also lost some Gary Jnr bloke, yet still got themselves up to have a convincing win this year, against one of the most dominant teams of all time (over a 25-30 game period, or however long it was for Collingwood, from mid last year to late this year).
