Re: not making excuses
If we'd one they might have rested Roo...and played Walsh.MC Gusto wrote:
also hate to tell you but Walsh aint a monty for this week. They will look to Kosi first i reckon...
Saints have to win...so Roo wil not be rested.
So for Walsh to play they would have to omit Blake. IMO as Walsh can play forward or back.....I would do it.

Well if Roo's knee gives way, or Kosi perfectly tackles a bloke again, we may have to debut Walsh in a final. That's a bigger risk again.Junction Oval wrote:We should never have been in this position. If they had have played Walsh earlier, they would have known whether he could perform at AFL level or not.
Now, it is more of a risk than it should ever have been.
Whether or not we beat North should not come down to whether or not Tommy is selected. So I say we play him this week and have a look at what he may be able to provide at this stage of his development.
Of course we want to make the finals and we want to win the flag. But if we stumble over the next 2 weeks I don't think anyone will be cursing the one that got away.
A premiership in 2011 is a far off dream and therefore Walsh's selection this week would not be the enormous risk some people might think it is - IMO of course.

Do they not understand basic hygiene?SainterK wrote:So Schneider, Steven and someone else (?) had it through the week as well?
It actually explains a bit about how the guys played, and I feel a bit relieved about it....then I wonder who is sick as I type this, and who potentially will fall unwell between now and Saturday night.

whole team looked flat so not surprising it affected many.
hope hey're fully over it by next week, but unlikely it won't have a slight affect.
effort was out of character so i'm giving the players the benefit of the doubt.
may be sluggish again this week so really need to graft it out.
put in some fresh, fit players who will run all day. have we got any available?

Yes it does explain a bit. McEvoy was the other player. Gastro really takes it out of you. Lets hope the other players don't get hit with it. Can you imagine playing footy after have gastro - tough ask I think.

Monstered by the bigger and stronger Shane Mumford, who was best afield, McEvoy came away possibly wondering whether his decision to play - he had been ill during the week, like a few St Kilda players - ...

Was on TV at the beginning of the game. St Kilda had a team dinner at a restaurant next to where they stayed in Sydney the night before the game and they got food poisoning.
