The ground is dangerous

Post: # 1123080Post saintspremiers »

Why do they bother with this rubbish ground?

All games should be at the SCG.

Disgrace.

Yeah agree. Not only do they just drop bits in, they actually play a game before hand. What are they thinking.

They don't think.

Anderson should be liable if we cop any injuries.

Farken not on.

The players union should just veto any games there

The question should be answered by the person/company making money from games at this TIP.

Is the AFL or Swans making making?

Hmmm.

So the corruption continues eh?

Just like Carlton Vs Hawks at Jihad not the MCG.

Maybe the AFL make sandpits??

the question is about justification that all.

If the AFL is all about its brand. Surly the ground provided today damages the brand more so then the money made.

ANZ Stadium is owned by Mike Fitzpatrick, Chairman of the AFL Commission. Are you starting to work out why we have to play there? !!

Obviously none of you have ever seen a game at Moorabbin.

Ditto.

It's funny how in the era of modern day softc*ck football that when there is any sign of rain or a ground is water-logged or muddy people can't handle it.

Playing a winter sport in wintery conditions, heaven forbid

Of course they should be able to handle it and it's no excuse for the loss.

However it doesn't mean that the ground is still not a disgrace in this modern era.

Moorabbin in the early to mid 80's was safer than that heap we saw today.

The AFL really are woeful.

I mean seriously. Ground conditions in a billion dollar national sporting comp should be a deadset piece of cake.

It should be a given, every week that the surfaces are as good as they possibly could be.

They've been hopeless in this area for years now.

Kinda matches their inability to give us a fair draw.

They really do miss on a couple of very basic non-negotiables, this lot.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

Yeah the last two seconds of the presser as he's leaving, says what a wonderful surface it was. Massive sarcasm.

I don't think that really holds up these days.

We have covered stadiums, and an insistence on every game being a 'spectacle'.

The days of 'tough it out, it's a winter sport played in any conditions' has kond of been snuffed out by the AFL.

They market it as a spectacle, and insist on everyone else pulling their weight to ensure it is.

The only people not pulling their weight, is the AFL when it comes to getting the grounds right.

I would suspect that there are people on the inside at the AFL who weren't completely happy with the surface at ANZ Stadium, but they will have to keep their thoughts relatively quiet as the stadium is owned by their Chairman !!

He must be very rich if he owns a 100 Million dollar stadium.

Lets not forget the rain they had...

I went for a walk around on it after the game adn it didn't seem too bad for the amount of rain they have had in Sydney over the past few days.

The one thing that I did notice was a distinct 'manky' smell - like the drain systems were blocked or not working sufficiently.

But surface itself wasn't too bad !
