Stiill wondering what the hell is going on
Can someone please tell me how many sociail club members we have?
How many seats are available for socilal club members to sit in?
Do we get a hat and scarf per social club membership?
My real gripe is that if yah paid to have social club membership you should be able to sit with all other social club members and not have to pay extra money to sit elsewhere.
The young fella at the membership dept. told me that we could only get a hat or a scarf so i chose 2 hats and a 3 scarves, can someone please enlighten me on all of the above i am so over it

The Social Club..
It's just a money grabbing exercise by the club......they have to be inventive about how they do it but they need to do it so that they can compete with the wealthy clubs.....
They'll smile and thank you for you're patronage but really, the disguised care factor is minimal, they just have to make sure they dont piss people off with the minimum reward for maximum cost maxim...
there isn't really a social club...it's the extractor club...and i'm in it...every year...
why....because i like my level 2 seat

The social club is a waste , I joined in 98 after going to most of the games in 97 and missing out on the GF ( whereas allot of people i know didn't go to any games , yet got tickets cos they knew someone ! )
thats really its only advantage .
At docklands its very noisy when full , food is average , the club gets nothing from the revenue it makes , thats why they are constantly flogging memorabilia and raffle tickets .
Its basically soulless !!!
not like moorabin in the 80s , used to get to the club at 11 30 , have lunch ( the curried snags were always awesome on a cold day )
watch the second half of the reserves , then the seniors , you could rub shoulders with players from both sides in the bar after the match and if we won ,you usually got home pretty late .
One regret , I was too young for the disco

They decided to change the social club seating to reserve seating that the start of the year. This is dispite the fact that originally they offered reserve seating on level 1 for those who wanted that and a social club area for those who wanted to book each week. Those of us who wanted to sit with different people each week and might miss some weeks were punished by this cash grab
Now we pay extra just to sit on level 3 and perhaps see a grand final in years to come.

There has been so much angst from so many Social Club "contributors" over a long period of time, about the lack of "benefits" and most recently, this year's withdrawal of a Social Club Seating section (booked on a weekly basis).
It's about time something other than individual letters (as I have written), was organised to be put to the Club about these matters. It's either that, or stop complaining and put up with being a "contributor without benefits."

That was pretty good back then.Winmar wrote:We were looked after better at Waverley. Members' reserve, and a separate section on the Kenneth Luke Stand side for SC members.
Couple of raffles.
Couple of drinks.
Play the song a couple of times.
Plenty of tables to sit around.
Then they would bring up a couple of players for an interview and draw the raffle.
You could actually hear yourself talk.
And you could hear what the MC/players were saying.
Then go home having missed all the traffic.
Though of course Moorabbin was better!
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Quite a deal more and being a social club member doesn't entitle me to a Grand Final ticket because i'm an AFL member with StKilda club support, it cancels it out....no cheaper though.. i pay full whack for both but can't have the full benefits of both....Winmar wrote:You must pay even more to get that level 2 seat though.
it's definitely one big extraction....
