Im not doubting that he needs the match practice, just seems odd that you can be a emergency in the highest possible level, yet play 2 levels down next day if you dont play.....saintbrat wrote:if he doesn't play Saturday he plays Sunday- having been out for so many weeks needs the match practice.stkildathunda wrote:Surely thats not Jarryn Geary?? it would be even more odd if you didn't play at all just because you were named as an emergency...say goodbye to match fitness...say goodbye to form..say goodbye to sanity....stkildathunda wrote:Im not doubting that he needs the match practice, just seems odd that you can be a emergency in the highest possible level, yet play 2 levels down next day if you dont play.....saintbrat wrote:if he doesn't play Saturday he plays Sunday- having been out for so many weeks needs the match practice.stkildathunda wrote:Surely thats not Jarryn Geary?? AFL profits....don't the pampered want all the lucremad saint guy wrote:It's an absolute joke that our reserves have to put up with 4 byes in an already shortened season. Surely a proper AFL reserves competition could be viable in this age of ridiculous AFL profits.

Seems so, another year of an injured player hanging on our list without getting on the park, we're starting to build a solid history of that practise now…plugger66 wrote:I would MG is gone and it time to move on.dragit wrote:You'd think Gardiner would have had a run if his hamstring was ok,

They're not our reserves, they are a VFL team that we are using to keep our lesser players fit. If you want to run a reserves comp there are only 10 Victorian teams. Would be a crap comp.mad saint guy wrote:It's an absolute joke that our reserves have to put up with 4 byes in an already shortened season. We have 40 on our list plus 6 rookies. To field a reserves team we'd need to pay another dozen players at least. Gets very expensive.

I get the impression the club is looking at it though. I wonder if you take the core group of seconds , and then have a supplementary /rookie group to make up the numbers., How do Cats Pies etc do it?Bernard Shakey wrote:They're not our reserves, they are a VFL team that we are using to keep our lesser players fit. The one we need to focus on is Geelong. Premierships or not, the club was in a fairly precarious financial position not that long ago. If they have found a way to make it work that's the example we should be looking at.

Brief report as I am sure someone else was there and can provide detailed player analysis
Ross was in attendance and gave a brief report to 3AW during his cross
Basicly strong wind to the south which Sandy did not make use of- after a couple of early goals they surrendered the lead with Coburg working well against the wind.
Coburg went on with it in the second and gained a substantial lead.
In the third little progress from Sandy with the wind again.
BUT in the last they came out firing and outscored Coburg to get with in 2 goals.
2011 VFL Reserves
Coburg Tigers 4.2 9.7 11.9 12.14 (86)
Sandringham 3.2 3.3 6.8 10.13 (73)
GOALS:
Coburg Tigers: Hicks 3 Ambrose 2 Lawton 2 Hore Murphy Ambrose Contin Dahl
Sandringham: Boland 3 Stapleton 2 Cathcart 2 Cahill Meehan Archer
BEST:
Coburg Tigers: Hore Masters Saville Contin Daniels Hicks
Sandringham: Geary Stapleton Mavric Dore Archer Michaliades
Coburg were more fluent with their transfers and their skill level and accuracy was much better than Sandy
whilst the Sandy team applied endeavour and tackled and chased - the problem was lack of accuracy with kicks forward and less marking power than Coburg.
Jarryn showed his experience, Archer 'toiled' i think would be the word,
Cahill shows glimpses but they are only glimpses, Curren does lots of nice things and keeps working at it, and Andreoli is fast till he ran out of options.
